Essence Stones can be used to perform a variety of tasks in Solo Leveling: Arise including, but not limited to—buying Selection Draw Tickets or Special Draw Tickets, Rescanning Gates, and buying Keys.
Essence Stones are arguably the most important resource in Solo Leveling: Arise, but they’re quite hard to get—especially for F2P players.
To help you farm them, we’ve listed below all the ways you can get Essence Stones for free in Solo Leveling: Arise, which you should keep in mind, as Essence Stones are among the most valuable items to farm in the game.
TIP: When drawing for Hunters and Weapons, we highly advise spending your Essence Stones in Special Draw Tickets instead of Selection Draw Tickets, as Rate Up Banners give you better rates for their featured Hunters/Weapons.
Clear Story Chapters & Other Game Modes

Clearing Story Chapters and other Game Modes such as Hunter Archives, Encore Missions, and Battlefield of Trials will give you plenty of Essence Stones—especially if you’re a beginner who hasn’t cleared that many stages yet.
Simply clearing stages won’t do, however, as you still have to complete the Battle Missions to get all the Essence Stones you can from a specific stage.
Battle Missions are three missions that you must accomplish per stage during battle, as shown in the image above. These missions can range from completing the stage within a set time limit or using Extreme Evasion a set number of times.
You are given Essence Stones for every Battle Mission you complete at the end of each battle.

We highly recommend completing as many Battle Missions as you can.
After all, the amount of Battle Missions you’ve cleared also influences your placement in your server’s Weekly Rankings, which gives you additional Essence Stones, as you can see in the image above.
Complete Daily & Weekly Missions

Completing your Daily and Weekly Missions is the most reliable way to get free Essence Stones, so don’t forget to always complete them every time they reset.
You can get the following amount of Essence Stones from your Daily and Weekly Missions:
- Daily Missions (100 Essence Stones)
- Weekly Missions (250 Essence Stones)
That comes to 950 Essence Stones per week in total, which adds up nicely in the long run.
Aside from free Essence Stones, Daily and Weekly Missions are also among the most consistent sources of Gold in the game, which are quite hard to farm enough of.
Talk to Hunters in the Lobby

Talking to Hunters in your lobby gives you 5 free Essence Stones per interaction, as shown in the image above.
Talking to a Hunter will also reveal some of their backstory, personality, and motivations, so just do it as often as you can!
NOTE: Only Hunters with the yellow chat bubble and the “!” symbol above their heads give you Essence Stones whenever you talk to them.
Clear and Mine Gates

Clearing Gates and then conducting Mining Operations on them may also allow you to get free Essence Stones, as you can see in the image above.
Do note, however, that this is mostly based on RNG and that Essence Stones are not a constant drop in Mining Operations.
Still, clearing and mining Gates for their resources is among the most important things you can do in Solo Leveling: Arise not just for the Essence Stones, but also for other valuable items like Gold, Equipment, and Melding Cubes.
Participate in Events

Remember to actively participate in as many Events in Solo Leveling: Arise as you can, since most of them give you free Essence Stones to grind for.

It doesn’t sound like much, sure, but you’re going to need every free Essence Stone you can farm in this game, especially if you’re a F2P player who wants to save up for Rate Up Banner draws.
Claim Achievement, Challenges, & Codex Rewards

You can also get free Essence Stones passively just by completing certain milestones in the Achievements or collecting certain items for your Codex—as shown in the image above.
Challenges, on the other hand, will give your free Essence Stones as a reward for completing tasks that mostly guide and incentivize your account’s overall growth.
TIP: Challenges not only give you other precious items like Gold, Melding Cubes, and Keys—they also serve as a pretty decent guide for beginners as they provide players with a sequence of actionable tasks that increase in difficulty the more they play the game.
