Honkai: Star Rail is the newest addition to miHoYo’s already impressive line-up of successful titles. Having developed Honkai Impact 3rd and Genshin Impact, miHoYo is looking to add another feather to its cap with Honkai: Star Rail.

In Honkai: Star Rail, players travel across the galaxy in search of dangerous artifacts known as Stellarons. As the protagonist of this story, you’ll be fraught with peril and danger as you face challenges alongside memorable characters that you’ll meet along the way!

What is Rerolling?

Rerolling is a gamer’s term used to describe the process of creating multiple accounts for specific gacha games in order to get the best character right at the beginning of a playthrough. Prevalently used when talking about gacha-style video games, this process typically involves creating multiple ‘dummy’ e-mail addresses so players can have an essentially unlimited amount of chances or ‘summons’ for the best characters the game currently has to offer.

How to Reroll

Create Multiple E-Mail Addresses

Gacha games released in the past have sometimes had a built-in rerolling mechanic (We’re looking at you Epic Seven), but Honkai: Star Rail has no such system in place. Instead, to reroll in Honkai: Star Rail, you’re going to need to create a number of dummy e-mail accounts in order to create a Hoyoverse account for each re-roll.

Progress Through The Tutorial

Once you have a number of e-mail accounts at the ready, you’ll need to log them into Honkai: Star Rail one by one and progress far enough into the story to unlock ‘Warping’, which is Honkai: Star Rail’s version of ‘Summons’. Specifically, this is when you meet Head Researcher Asta for the first time. After meeting Asta, you will be prompted to try warping for the first time. This is a scripted event in which you will always receive a playable version of Asta!

After unlocking the Warp system, progress a little further into the story to gain access to the Travel Log, which is Honkai: Star Rail’s version of an ‘Events’ screen. From this point, you can decide whether or not you want to continue progressing through the game to be able to claim another ten free Star Rail Passes.

How to Warp

Collect Free Star Rail Passes

Now that you have Warping unlocked, you will need some Star Rail Passes in order to perform any summons. The first thing you should do is access your phone to claim 20 free Star Rail Passes from your mail!

Spend these Star Rail Passes on the Departure Warp/Starter Warp banner for the best chances at your first five-star character!

Spending 16 Star Rail Passes on the Departure Warp should leave you with enough Undying Embers to purchase another four Star Rail Special Passes from the Embers Exchange in the Store. Next, open up your Travel Log and claim one free Star Rail Special Pass from the A World Beyond Time event.

This should leave you with a total of 5 Star Rail Special Passes, which you should spend on the current event banner, Swirl of Heavenly Spear.

Reroll Character Tier List

Below we’ve created a table of all the currently available characters that you can pull for in Honkai: Star Rail. This tier list takes into account how useful a character is and weighs that against how easy they are to obtain.

S-TierA-TierB-TierC-Tier
Jin YuangWeltYanqingArlan
BronyaClaraNatashaDan Heng
BailuGepardPelaHerta
HimekoHook

  • S-Tier: The characters in this tier are both tremendously useful and difficult to obtain. We highly recommend sticking to any account that manages to obtain any of these three characters.
  • A-Tier: These characters are also powerful and specialize in certain aspects, but are not as universally useful as the characters in S-Tier. Consider keeping your account if you manage to get any of these characters.
  • B-Tier: These are noteworthy characters that are useful in certain niches with the exception of Natasha. Natasha is currently one of only two healers in the game, making her immensely useful in any team. But you can get her for free from progressing the game, therefore she is not a priority summon when rerolling.
  • C-Tier: These characters can either be obtained for free or are outperformed by characters you can get for free. Hence, these characters are in the lowest tier in terms of summoning priorities.
