Fireball Wizard is a magical game that is available to download for free on the Play Store. This action-adventure game, developed by GinTronic, is guaranteed to keep you on your toes, with enemies lurking around every corner.

Using your wand to battle foes, your goal is to pass the stages while searching for hidden secrets and passing the obstacles presented to you.

With enemies that either blast their own fireballs at you or jump out and attack you, there is no doubt that you will be sitting on the edge of your chair in this game.

That’s not to mention spikes and fireballs of sorts attempting to ruin your mission.

It might seem simple enough, but after dying 7 times in exactly the same place, you might be inclined to change your focus and strategy a bit.

Gameplay

Heading into the game itself, you will see arrows on the bottom-left side of the screen that indicate left or right. Use these arrows to move in the required direction.

On the bottom right side of your screen, you will see an arrow pointing upwards, use this arrow to jump. Double-tapping on the arrow allows you to double-jump.

To enter a door, stand in front of it and wait for the arrow to appear on the bottom right side of your screen. This icon is an arrow pointing upwards, enclosed in a bubble. See the image below:

The target icon next to the jumping arrow is your shooting button. If you press the button numerous times, your wand will shoot continuously.

If you hold the shooting button in for a bit, your wand will gather enough force that when you release the button, it will shoot a blast that is stronger and can break certain walls.

You can also defeat harder-to-kill enemies with this sort of blast.

The wand icon with stars situated above the jump button is your special power.

Use the power located on the left side of the right panel to freeze enemies in the beginning and to freeze walls that are on fire.

Other powers become available as you upgrade your wand and progress through the game.

Game Currency and Store

Golden rings are what you are looking to find in this game. Enemies drop them, and you can find them in chests, as well as in a bonus stage after every stage has been cleared.

Fireball Wizard

You can clear the bonus stage by jumping from beneath the chest and hitting the required chests with your head. The bonus stages also differ, for example:

In one bonus stage you have to remember which chest holds the rings, and when the three chests come to a standstill after rotating a few times, stand under the correct chest you memorized, and jump until you tap the chest from below.

In another bonus stage, three chests have icons. Each chest will flash with an icon, until you tap touch one.

When you jump and hit one, the other two will continue flashing, until you are able to touch them. You will need to have all three icons on the chests matching before a reward with bonus rings is received.

Another example is a single chest with rings that is moving continuously. You will need to jump and touch the chest from below as many times as possible to receive as many rings as possible.

Jumping and touching the chests from the side does not work.

With these rings, you will be able to head over to the Wizard’s upgrade station. Here you will be able to upgrade your wand to a stronger wand, with different abilities, using rings you have collected throughout the stages.

Please note: You have a specific amount of time to complete the bonus stages before your time runs out. This is also applicable to rings lying on the floor, they will flash and disappear if you do not collect them in time.

Pause Fireball Wizard

In order to pause your game, select the double line icon on the top left-hand side of your screen. A menu will appear:

The hearts show you how much health you have. This is applicable to being hit by enemies only. If you fall into a pit or acid of any sort, as well as touch a wall sprouting flames or a block with spikes, you will die immediately.

The rings are the amount you have collected so far throughout the game.

Sound can be adjusted on this menu. Your first icon with the left-pointing arrow enables you to exit the game. The world icon allows you to choose your preferred language.

The house icon allows you to return to the game’s first map. The remote allows you to connect a remote control.

The flag is where you can change your privacy settings, and the last face icon allows you to join Fireball Wizard’s Discord channel.

One of the best things about this game? After dying a certain amount of times in a stage, they take pity on you. I am speaking from experience here.

You can purchase extra health at the beginning of the stage for ten rings, which will last you throughout the stage.

Traveling the World

The main map shows you a door with the Roman numeral I. This is the first world you will enter, which has 10 stages for you to pass.

Fireball Wizard

There are many hidden areas available to explore. In each stage, there is one secret area.

After completing each stage, and only if you have found the secret area on that particular stage, the Roman Numeral will appear gold above the door.

You will be able to return and redo a stage if you want to find all of the secret areas.

To make it a little bit easier, I will show you where to find the first ten secret areas in World 1.

World 1-Stage 1

Your very first stage is a tutorial on how the game works. You will literally run into your first secret area, by following those guidelines. You will fall through the floor and find the first one.

Shoot the chest to gain plenty of rings. You can exit the area by jumping up the stairs.

World 1-Stage 2

In the second stage, your secret area is located at the very end of the stage. Pass through the right-hand side of the wall, where the exit door is situated.

World 1-Stage 3

In the third stage, your secret area is located to the left of all the skeletons, at the bottom of the stairs.

Pass through the wall and fall down to reveal the secret chest.

World 1-Stage 4

This is also an easy secret area to find. Simply walk through the left-hand side wall after you have entered the stage, passing through the wall by the door.

World 1-Stage 5

In this stage, once you have passed the first acid pool, you will be able to climb the stairs and blast open the barricade by casting an ice spell. Before you do that, stand on the top stair and pass through the right-hand side wall.

World 1-Stage 6

This stage is a bit tougher than the others and took me a while to find. This secret area is found at the very end of the stage, by the exit door.

What I dId not realize is that you can double jump and enter the wall on the right by the door.

Fireball Wizard

You will have to double-jump in order for it to work though.

World 1-Stage 7

This secret area is also located at the very end of the stage. After you have broken the chest and killed the fire-spitting enemy on the right, proceed to the four disappearing blocks at the end.

The single disappearing blue block is the one you need to be on. Jump to the right of the screen against the wall and continue pressing right until you enter the secret area.

World 1-Stage 8

In this stage, you will find the secret area located on your left-hand side when you enter the stage. Double jump to the left and you will find the secret area through the wall.

World 1-Stage 9

This stage is tough. The secret area is located by the first wheel of acid you encounter.

When you exit the secret area, be aware of the rolling acid wheel.

World 1-Stage 10

The only way to find the secret area in this stage is by defeating the boss.

Here are a few tips as to how to kill him that might come in handy:

For starters, as you approach him, start firing as much as you possibly can. He will fire blasts at you that you can avoid by doing a single jump, and if your timing is accurate you will avoid being hit.

You can double jump as well, but that wastes valuable time that could be used to lower his power levels that are shown on the top right corner of your screen.

When the guard’s power reaches less than halfway, his head will disengage from his body and follow you.

The head will then drop fireballs on you, and the body will continue blasting shots at you. It becomes harder to attack him at this point.

It is critical to fire as many shots as possible, as fast as possible. The end becomes difficult while trying to dodge his blasts, as well as his head.

My best advice is to purchase the second or third wand with rings, they will kill him faster.

Once you have defeated the boss, head over to the right-hand side of your screen, and enter the secret area through the wall.

You can use the skill of your second wand to pass the last barrier of stage 10 as indicated below:

By jumping in the air, tap on the wand icon with the stars, and then tap on the first icon on the bottom left-hand corner of your screen. This will enable you to break the golden barrier from above.

GinTronic Headquarters

When you find yourself on the main map before entering a stage, you will notice a lot of doors you are able to enter. One of them is GinTronic’s Headquarters.

See the image below:

Fireball Wizard

Photo: GinTronic

Here you will find yourself in a room with 3 arcade-type games you are able to play. The first arcade game is a flying game.

You will need to collect the rings while trying not to collide with the walls. To do so, tap the right-hand side of your screen while timing the jump in between.

If you do not tap, you will plummet to certain death. However, if you tap too fast, you will either hit the ceiling, or a wall, so timing is everything. The cost to play is 1 ring for each new game.

Fireball Wizard

The second arcade game is the actual game itself. Here you will be able to test your speed and skills. Note that if you die, you will have to start from the beginning again.

Fireball Wizard

The third arcade game is something else entirely. You will be forced to make a run for your life, whilst being chased by a wall of spikes.

This is fairly simple until the bricks and everything disappears and you have to remember where the next wall or stair is.

Fireball Wizard

Note that the stages are not the only places that you can find secret areas either, they are available to find in other areas of the main map. The more rings you collect, the better your wand becomes after an upgrade.

Conclusion

Fireball Wizard is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. If you find yourself getting frustrated, I do suggest you breathe a bit before attempting another round.

I would recommend this game to any gamer that enjoys a bit of mystery, as well as action and strategy.

Here are a few more games worth having a look at; Rogue With The Dead, Alien Invasion, and When The Past Was Around.
