When you first launch Sea of Conquest after downloading it, you’ll be asked to agree with the terms and conditions. Right after doing that, you’ll be shown an amazing animated cutscene that’ll also be fully voiced.

While you can indeed skip this cinematic we highly recommend you to watch it. After all, it isn’t every day you see such a good-looking animation play in a mobile game.

With the opening animation done, you’ll understand where the main story in Sea of Conquest is going. You fill the pirate shoes of Henry Hell, the main protagonist of this game’s main story. You might not want to get too attached to any character you come across, though, as they might not stay on screen long.

With the introductions out of the way, it’s time to get into the main story. That’s right, Sea of Conquest has a complete campaign with a story and fully voiced characters.

Your journey commences within Pirate’s paradise, nestled deep within the enigmatic Devil’s Seas. While there are indeed several twists and turns on the way, Henry’s friends and his nose for treasure will always lead him toward adventure.

On the way, in addition to meeting several new friends and enemies, you’ll also be taking on bosses that would even have Davy Jones trembling in his boots. Whether it be on land or on a ship, however, Henry and his mates always find a way to come out on top and we’re sure you’ll be doing the same.

Sea of Conquest features several different chapters you can go through, and all of them add something new to the overall game’s story. Of course, they all also give you rewards when you complete them, so it might be a good idea to go through that before doing anything else.

At all times, you’ll see at least one objective toward the left of the screen when you start the game. By tapping it, you’ll be directed to the location you have to go to if you want to complete that specific objective.

This is an invaluable mechanic that can help you learn what you can do in this game. Whether it’s asking you to install a specific room in your ship or asking you to join a gang, you can expect to learn something new every time and get some goodies for completing it too.

Is It a Treasure? Is It an Artifact? It’s a Hidden Island!

Of course, you can’t make a good pirate game without there being a treasure, an ancient artifact, and hidden islands you can discover and loot. Every time you defeat a ship or enemy you can loot it for all it’s worth in Sea of Conquest.

Additionally, while roaming the overworld, it’s very likely that you might come across some secret islands. These islands are indicated by a skull on them and can be interacted with to have your ship loot it.

Finally, there are artifacts. Sea of Conquest has a bunch of different artifacts you’ll unlock throughout the course of your adventure.

While some of them might show you where treasure can be found, others might shorten the time it takes for your ship to get from point A to point B by a lot.

With that being said, every time you find a treasure you’ll have to first meet specific requirements if you want to actually use it in Sea of Conquest.

To learn what those requirements are, tap the artifact’s icon near the top of the screen.

If you want to use an artifact you have then you can open the artifact menu by tapping the artifact icon at the bottom right of the screen.

That’s right, when we said this game had combat we meant it has a LOT of combat. Sea of Conquest has a surprisingly in-depth combat mechanic that ensures the game isn’t ever feeling repetitive or boring.

Hey, it wouldn’t be a pirate game if there wasn’t battling on ships, right? One of the most exhilarating mechanics in this game is battling other ships using nothing but your own ship and the skills of your heroes.

There are two types of ship battles. The first type is when everything is in third person. Here, you have the choice to control your cannons by pulling down and aiming, and you can also use the skills of your heroes by tapping on their icons.

Of course, you can also enable auto battle to make it so all cannon firing is done automatically and you only have to use skills.

It’s important to note that the orange bar at the bottom right represents how much rage you have. Every time you use a hero’s ability, you consume a set amount of rage.

Additionally, using an ability forces that hero to go on cooldown for a couple of seconds, so it might be a good idea to use your abilities smartly.

The second type of ship battle, meanwhile, is when you’re in the overworld and you tap on a ship to attack it.

In this scenario, your ship will automatically sail toward the targeted ship and then begin the battle. Of course, in these types of battles, the gap in level between you and the enemy ship plays a huge role in who wins.

If you’re someone who would rather duke it out in a good old-fashioned scuffle, then good news. It’s also possible to fight enemies on land using nothing but your guns, swords, skills, and quick wits.

Before every land battle, you have to choose which heroes you want to control. You start with a maximum of two heroes that you can take to battle. After selecting the heroes you want to represent you, you can tap the red attack icon to start the battle.

Fortunately, learning how to do battle in the Sea of Conquest is very easy. You have two ways to go about this:

  • Either you tap on the icons of your heroes when you have enough heat to have them use their abilities.
  • Or you enable ‘auto’ and abilities are used automatically without you having to do anything.

Did you notice how we didn’t mention basic attacks? Well, that’s because basic attacks are done automatically regardless of whether or not you have auto mode turned on. Don’t mind us, we’ll just be watching our heroes decimate the enemy while we eat some snacks.

Become the Greatest Pirate That Ever Lived

While there are indeed a bunch of different things you can do in Sea of Conquest, the main objective has to be to become a great pirate. No, scratch that. The GREATEST pirate who ever lived. Call me Monkey. D. Luffy because I’m gonna be the king of the pirates.

Upgrade Your Ship

You can’t be a pirate worth your salt if you don’t have a good ship to back you up. Fortunately, Sea of Conquest starts you off with a rather sizable ship that, while broken in some areas, is good enough for you to set sail.

However, by tapping the hammer icon at the bottom right of the screen, you can transform the hunk of junk you start with into something even the pirate king would be proud to sail on. We’re talking:

  • Stronger cannons for more firepower
  • More storage areas so you can loot more goods
  • Oarsman Quarters so you can increase the sailing speed
  • A sick bay to reduce the number of casualties you have to face

And so much more!

Speaking of ships, your flagship level is perhaps the most important thing for you when you’re starting off. By leveling up your flagship level, you can unlock new features for your ship. Of course, it isn’t free and you can expect to be set back by a good amount of gold.

Alternatively, you can also customize the overall look of your ship to match your tastes. If you want something better, however, then it’s also possible to change your ship entirely and purchase a better and bigger ship.

The best way to show the world that you made it is by sailing on the biggest ship you can find.

Build the Ultimate Pirate Crew

A pirate captain is only as strong as his or her pirate crew. This is exactly why players are given the option to customize their pirate crew. Before we move on to the big ones, how about talking about the minor crewmates?

Crewmates are extremely important for your ship as they perform a variety of actions, especially when in battle.

While installing sick bays in your ship can save some of them, it’s inevitable that you’ll be facing crewmate casualties in your adventure.

To ensure you always have enough hands on deck, you can tap the icon with the plus sign at any time to enlist more crewmates.

With that out of the way, we also have heroes. Heroes are extremely powerful characters who we control in battle and can level up by using materials we find in our adventure.

By tapping the ‘hero’ icon at the bottom right of the screen, you can see which heroes you have and which heroes you can purchase or acquire.

Leveling up your heroes is crucial if you want to survive the tough waters. By leveling a hero up, you increase their overall power and health to ensure they hit harder and can last longer in battle.

It’s also worth noting that every hero has a set role assigned to them which determines how their style in combat is. You can expect to see:

Hey, we never said you had to go through the entire game alone, did we? Sea of Conquest might have an epic single-player campaign, but it also has a bunch of multiplayer elements you can take advantage of to have a blast with your friends.

The first thing you should do is to ally yourself with a guild. There are multiple guilds in Sea of Conquest, and all of them control different ports throughout the course of the game.

As you can imagine, ports are extremely important in Sea of Conquest as you can trade gold and other items for things your ship or heroes might need. Therefore, allying yourself with the guild that controls the most ports can prove to be extremely advantageous in the long run.

Forming the Best Gangs

Secondly, for those wanting a more tight-knit group, you can also form a gang with your friends in Sea of Conquest.

With gangs, the best thing you can do is go on raids to take down strong sea monsters and bosses who might otherwise prove to be too difficult for one pirate alone.

If you don’t have enough members in your gang then you can always take advantage of the global chat to recruit some gang members. Who knows, you might come across someone you’ll call a friend a couple of years down the road.

Conclusion

This was everything you needed to know about the gameplay of Sea of Conquest before you get started. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a large-scale game that is constantly being updated with new content.

Therefore, the best way to learn the ins and outs of the game, in addition to reading this guide, is by playing the game yourself.
