War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn was released on the 17th of June 2021, and since its release, it has become one of the most popular strategy games out there.

At the time of writing this article, the game is sitting at a 4.7/5 stars review and has been downloaded from the Play Store more than one million times so let’s take a closer look at it and see what it is all about.

What is War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn?

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn is a free-to-play 4X strategy game that combines the elements of real-time and turn-based combat and features more than ten million players across the world.

The gameplay combines elements of strategic turn-based battles, city building and resource management, and item and skill upgrades, all intertwined with one another and requiring strategic thinking and tactical gameplay.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn lets the player assume the role of the Lord and tasks the player with leading a kingdom and all of its subjects.

The main goal of the game is to progress through the main storyline and expand your kingdom by collecting resources, constructing buildings, organizing your caste’s defenses, and defeating both player and AI enemies who choose to stand against you.

In order to accomplish all this, the player is tasked with recruiting large armies consisting of heroes, different types of units, and magical creatures and leading them against all who dare stand in their way.

In order to make your kingdom rich and prosperous you will want to be able to construct all kinds of buildings and expand quickly. However, to do that you will need a lot of resources such as Food to feed your subjects, Wood and Metal to construct your buildings, and much more.

While you will be able to get a lot of needed resources by completing quests in the main storyline, you can also produce them at various buildings and collect them once the production is complete.

The first thing you should do when starting up War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn is make sure that you have chosen the correct hero.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn features multiple heroes that you can choose from, and each of them comes with its own strengths and weaknesses. However, you should always aim to choose the one that is the best equipped to lead your armies to victory and take care of all of your kingdom’s needs.

Heroes come in three different tiers, S, A, and B with the S tier being the strongest of them all. On top of that, each hero comes with its own set of attributes, abilities, and skills, all of which come with its own advantages and disadvantages.

The main point to take note of from all this is that when choosing your hero, you should always make sure that your hero’s advantages are great and that its disadvantages won’t hinder you down the line in your gameplay.

As we mentioned above, each hero in the game comes with its own set of hero skills and these skills are very powerful and can often turn the tides of battle. As the player progresses, they will unlock and learn new skills that they can utilize to get rid of enemy soldiers, perform crowd control, and boost the morale of their own units.

It is recommended that you use your hero’s abilities at the peak of battle in order to increase your own power as well as the power of all units under your control to gain maximum advantage over the enemy.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn allows the player to craft various pieces of equipment which can then be worn by your heroes in order to gain all kinds of kingdom and combat benefits.

Items such as helmets, armor, sabatons, and even weapons can be crafted and worn by the heroes. In order to craft equipment, the player is required to build a Forge.

Once that is accomplished, players can craft all kinds of equipment by spending specific resources. Depending on the amount and rarity of resources, equipment can vary in quality and the rarer the resources, the better will be the benefits granted by the crafted equipment.

Crafted items can also be upgraded to a higher level by using the items themselves in combination with other resources.

Equipment will grant Kingdom buffs such as increased build and research speed, increased storehouse protection, increased army load capacity, and marching speed.

Aside from Kingdom buffs, crafted items will also grant various combat advantages such as increased magic defense, increased physical defense, increased prestige, and increased physical and magical attack. 

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn – Combat

The combat system in War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn features a grid system. Both armies engage on a separate battlefield and each unit takes turns performing actions including the heroes.

Units can move across the grid and perform melee and range offensive attacks, and defensive maneuvers, and heroes can use all kinds of magical abilities such as meteor showers in order to eliminate large chunks of the enemy armies.

Once an army loses all of its units, the battle is over and the winner is declared.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn allows the player to control a wide variety of units on the battlefield and each of them comes with its own strengths and weaknesses so let’s take a closer look at some of the most basic unit types that the player will encounter.

Heros –  Your heroes are effectively your generals and leaders of your armies. As such, they are considered to be the most powerful units in the game. Each hero can wear armor and other gear, use special skills and abilities, and grow in power as they gain more experience on the battlefield.

Melee Units – As implied by their name, melee units are units that are capable of attacking only at the melee range, which means that in order to use them properly, they need to get up close and personal. These are usually your infantry such as guards. 

Range Units – Range units are units that are capable of attacking enemies from far away, usually by casting spells or using projectiles such as arrows. A good example of range units is the crossbowmen.

Magical Creatures – Magical creatures are generally more powerful than both melee and range units and can be recruited in a limited capacity. Your Phoenix, Gryphons, and other mythological creatures fit this category and usually come with their own unique special abilities.

Building and expanding your kingdom is one of your duties as the Lord which means that over the course of your rule, you will be tasked with constructing different types of buildings in order to benefit your subjects.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn lets you build all kinds of buildings and each of them serves a different purpose and benefits the player in a particular manner.

It is also worth noting that each building can be upgraded by spending resources that will unlock additional options or improve your already existing ones, so let’s take a closer look at them.

Barracks – Barracks are one of the first buildings that you will be able to construct and like in many games, their main purpose is to allow you to recruit guards. As your kingdom expands, you will be able to upgrade your Barracks and increase the recruitment speed of guards and other infantry.

The Tulip Pub – The pub is a place where your heroes hang out and go on adventures.  It is also where you can recruit new heroes should you choose to do so. 

Stables – Stables are a building that is essential if you wish to recruit knights and cavalry into your army.

Monastery – The monastery is a religious structure where you can recruit priestesses.

Void Gate – This mystical building allows you to raise the level of all your magical creatures and increase their recruitment speed.

Academy – The Academy is a structure dedicated to knowledge and research. It is a place where you will research new techs and unlock all kinds of upgrades.

Range – The range is a building that you will need to construct in order to unlock the recruitment of crossbowmen at your barracks. 

Forge – The Forge is a structure that allows you to craft all kinds of gear and equipment.

War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn – Main Quest

Like many similar mobile games, War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn features a story that you will progress through by completing the main quest line.

The main quest will always appear at the bottom left corner of your screen and will automatically take the player to the location of the quest or provide guidance on how the player should proceed.

It is important to note that the main quests will be your primary source of experience and resources which will allow you to upgrade buildings, learn new abilities, and get new equipment.

Aside from the missions that are included in the main questline, players of War and Magic – Kingdom Reborn will also be able to complete two additional sets of missions. Daily Missions and Weekly Missions.

Daily Missions

Daily Missions are quests that players can complete to earn various rewards. These missions reset every 24 hours and usually consist of smaller, simpler tasks such as killing a few waves of monsters, making a wish a specific number of times, using key items, or buying things from a merchant.

Completing daily missions will also award the player with Medal Points which when accumulated will provide the player with chests that contain special rewards. The more points that the player accumulates, the better the quality of the chest, and therefore the reward itself.

Weekly Missions

Weekly Missions are quests that the player can complete to earn bonus rewards. These missions usually consist of larger and more complicated tasks compared to Daily Missions and reset every seven days.

Weekly Missions usually require the player to increase their power by a certain amount, upgrade soldiers, heal soldiers, or forge hero equipment. Similarly to Daily Missions, completing Weekly Missions will award player Medal Points which can be used to gain chests of various qualities that contain special rewards.

The more points the player gets, the better the chest and the better the reward.

The main quest will be the fastest way for you to progress and obtain the resources that you need to quickly grow in power. This is why you should prioritize completing the main quests whenever you get the chance.

Completing daily missions is an excellent way to speed up your progression and get your hands on extra rewards.

Daily missions are usually simple and don’t require a lot of time to complete which makes them an excellent source of additional rewards.
