Samsara Room, the predecessor to the Cube Escape series, is a point-and-click adventure/escape room game from Rusty Lake.

Set in an even stranger and surreal-er version of the Rusty Lake universe, Samsara Room was released in April 2020 and is available for iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS devices.

PC users can download it for free from Steam. It’s also free to play on the App Store and the Google Play Store.

Players find themselves in a 4-walled room with some “stuff.” Scour through the room, pick up valuable items, and solve puzzles to attain enlightenment.

Enlightenment = Escape!

However, that’s easier said than done.

So, we’re here to help with a full Samsara Room walkthrough. If you’re having difficulty getting started or simply stuck somewhere, this guide can help.

Gameplay & Mechanics

Before we start solving puzzles, let’s take a quick look at how to play Samsara Room.

As mentioned above, the room we’re in has 4 walls. The first wall has a shelf, a table with a telephone, and a mirror.

To interact with the various elements in the game, players simply have to tap on them.

There is an inventory system as well. Players can pick up some of the stuff and store it for later use.

Lastly, the game can also provide hints.

Click on the eye icon in the top right corner. If you unlock the premium version, the hints are free. Otherwise, you’ll have to watch an ad to get a hint.

Samsara Room Full Walkthrough – All Puzzles & Achievements

Without further ado, let’s jump straight in!

When you first jump into the game, you’ll face the first wall with a mirror, a side table, and a shelf. You can see a human silhouette in the mirror. That means you’re in the human dimension.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

When you zoom in to the mirror and drag along the screen, you’ll see a symbol. That’s the symbol of the human dimension. See it in the image below and remember it as these symbols connect to a puzzle later in the game.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

There are multiple dimensions in the game. You’ll learn about them as you progress through Samsara and this guide.

Click on the shelf. You’ll see a candle in a pot. Pick it up.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, zoom out by clicking on the arrow at the bottom of the screen.

Tap on the left arrow to move to the fourth wall. You’ll find a side table cupboard with four drawers and a safe.

Open the drawers one by one and pick up whatever you find. The top drawer is empty. The second drawer has a knife. There is a fish in the third drawer. And the last drawer has another candle.

screenshot of a drawer with a knife inside

Photo: Rusty Lake

There is another candle in the safe. Tap on it and do the following to unlock it:

  • Rotate the left and right circles clockwise until they match the center circle cutouts.

screenshot of Samsara Room puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

  • Move the squares in the middle circle to the side circles and move the center circle to free the yellow square.

screenshot of Samsara Room puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

  • Move the yellow square down to unlock the safe and pick up the candle.

screenshot of a safe with candle in it

Photo: Rusty Lake

You now have three candles.

Head back to the first wall, tap on the side table, and then tap on the envelope. Use the knife to open the envelope. A page will come out that has some symbols and ‘enlighten me’ written on it.

screenshot of a clue

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, zoom out and pick up the phone. As you pick up the receiver, a few alphabets will fly out. Spell out ‘enlighten me’ by tapping on the alphabet in the correct order.

Once you do that, a box of matches will drop on the table. Pick it up.

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, it’s time to complete the first achievement.

Click the right arrow three times to face the wall with the window.

Open the window and use the knife to tear down the wallpaper. Doing so will reveal four small platforms in the corners, a circle, and a large plate at the bottom of the window.

The bottom left platform will already have a candle. Place the three candles that you found on the remaining platforms and put the fish on the large plate. Light the matches, and the middle circle will open up to reveal a portal.

Photo: Rusty Lake

Click on the portal to enter. There is a cube floating around in space, surrounded by four yellow dots. Tapping on the cube twice will transport you back to the room. But this time, you’ll be in the fish dimension.

The room is submerged in water, and you can see a fish-like silhouette in the mirror and the symbol as well.

In the fish dimension, you have to collect four shells and a human heart.

The first shell is sitting on top of the mirror.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

Pick it up and then head over to the third wall- the one with the old clock.

You’ll see a bottle floating around. Tap on the cracks on the bottle to break it and free the shell. Now you have two shells.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

For the third one, click the right arrow to face the fourth wall.

The drawers and the safe will be floating around. You’ll see a cucumber-like object as well. Tap on it and press down the bumps. Do not press the bumps that have a dark spot on their base. Avoid pressing the ones circled in the image below.

screenshot of Samsara Room puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

This will reveal the third shell.

The fourth and final shell is in the safe on top of the drawers.

Now, for the human heart, navigate back to the wall with the big clock. You’ll notice something different about the clock this time. A nail is sticking out. Pull it out by tapping on it and keep repeating until a human hand reaches out.

Place the knife on that hand, and you’ll get a heart in return.

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, head back to the first wall and pick up the telephone receiver. A few bubbles will fly out. Pop these bubbles in a left-to-right and top-to-bottom pattern.

Photo: Rusty Lake

Doing so will spell “let it sink in,” and a paper boat will appear on the screen. Tap on the paper boat SEVEN times to unfold it and get a key.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

Pick the key up, zoom out, open the shelf with it, and pick up the jar.

Now, go to the room with the altar window.

Put the shells on the corner platforms and the heart on the bottom plate to open the portal again and head back to the human dimension.

Once you’re back in the human dimension, you need to capture the gecko. It can appear on any wall. Once you find it, tap on the jar, then tap on the gecko, and then again tap on the jar to capture it.

screenshot of a gecko in a jar

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, we can enter the gecko dimension.

Go to the altar window wall, replace the heart with the gecko, and re-enter the portal.

Now, you’re in the gecko dimension. Everything will be upside down, and you’ll see a gecko-like silhouette in the mirror and another unique symbol.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

In the gecko dimension, the goal is to find a worm key and four golden marbles.

The first marble is in the pot above the shelf on the first wall. Once you pick that up, go to the altar window room. You’ll see a chandelier that you couldn’t see in the human or fish dimension. Tap on it and use the matches to light up the candles.

You must light up the candles in the right sequence to complete the puzzle and reveal the second marble.

See the candle lighting sequence in the image below.

screenshot of Samsara Room puzzle solution

Photo: Rusty Lake

Once you light up all the candles, the chandelier pipe opens up to reveal the marble.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

The third marble is on the third wall where the old clock is.

As you navigate to the third wall, you’ll again notice something new that wasn’t there in the human and fish dimension. THREE paintings are hanging above the clock.

You can shake these paintings by dragging them with your finger. Shake the painting on the left and remove its canvas to recover the third marble.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

As for the fourth marble, it’s on the fourth wall. A bookshelf appears on the fourth wall, and the marble sits on top of it.

screenshot of Samsara Room book shelf puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

But that’s not the only purpose of that shelf. It’s a puzzle. You’ll need to move the books around and create a formation that looks like the one in the image below.

screenshot of Samsara Room bookshelf puzzle solution

Photo: Rusty Lake

Once you solve the puzzle, the red book in the middle will start shaking. Tap on it, and it will fall down. So, to read the book, we’ll have to travel back to the human dimension.

But first, a tiny detour.

Go back to the wall with the paintings and the old clock and zoom in on the middle painting. You’ll see a time stamp on the frame- 03:55.

Zoom out of the painting and tap on the old clock. Set the clock hands to 03:55. A small compartment will open up with a triangle key inside. Pick that up. It plays a vital role later in the game.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

With the triangle key secure and the four marbles in our inventory, we get back to the interdimensional puzzle-solving.

On the altar widow, place the marbles and replace the gecko with the human heart to travel back to the human dimension.

Go straight back to the altar window wall. You’ll find the book on the floor. Tap on it and read through the FOUR pages.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

Every page gives us a clue about the game.

For instance, the second page tells us the location of all the triangle keys. One triangle key is in the human dimension, another one is in the gecko dimension (that we already collected), and the third triangle key is in the fish dimension.

These keys will unlock the clock compartment. Incidentally, all three keys are in the small compartment above the old clock head.

Flip over to page three of the book, and you’ll see another time stamp- 8:25.

Now, while staying in the human dimension, head over to the clock and set the clock hands to 8:25. The small compartment will open up again to reveal the second triangle key.

screenshot of Samsara Room triangle key puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

For the third triangle key, we first need to travel to the fish dimension.

Go to the altar window, replace the human heart with the fish, and go through the portal.

On the first screen that appears, you’ll see a red book floating. It’s titled Samsara and has a time stamp of 2:15.

screenshot of Samsara Room triangle key puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

I think you already know what you have to do next.

Back to the clock wall again to set the clock hands at 2:15 and get the third triangle key.

With the three keys in your inventory, you can now open the clock compartment. It only opens in the human dimension, so head over to the clock wall of the human dimension.

Tap on the bottom half of the clock and place the three triangle keys you just collected.

screenshot of Samsara Room triangle key puzzle solution

Photo: Rusty Lake

After that, press the golden button in the center to unlock the compartment.

When the compartment door opens, you’ll find a dead body of an old man. Click on the body to pull it and drop it on the floor. Move his arm, and he’ll drop a seed. Pick up the seed and plant it in the pot on top of the shelf on the first wall.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

Time for another interdimensional jump so you can get water for this seed.

Travel to the fish dimension and fill the water in the empty jar you used to catch the gecko. This can be done by simply tapping on the jar and tapping anywhere on the screen in the fish dimension.

Go back to the human dimension and water the seed. It’ll grow instantly, but you can only see the bottom half of it in the human dimension.

So now, to see the top half of our plant, we have to travel to the gecko dimension.

Once there, you’ll see the plant has a fully grown flower with purple petals.

screenshot of purple flower petals

Photo: Rusty Lake

Pluck all the petals to find a green worm.

screenshot of green worm in a plant

Photo: Rusty Lake

You can now access another dimension – the worm dimension – by placing the worm in the altar window plate.

The silhouette in the mirror will change once again, along with your view of the walls. You’ll now be closer to the ground.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

The objective of the worm dimension is to find one egg, one knife (we lost it when we gave it to the hand in the clock), and four flower petals.

Let’s start with the flower petals.

You’ll find the first petal in the book that fell on the floor. Move to the altar window wall and zoom in on the book. Use the matches box to hold the book open and collect the first flower petal.

screenshot of Samsara Room purple petals puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

The second flower petal and the knife are in the same place.

Go to the old clock wall and zoom on the clock. Pick up the knife and clear wooden debris to reveal another flower petal.

screenshot of Samsara Room purple petals puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

To get the third flower petal, you need to go back to the first wall which has the mirror and the telephone table. Tap the telephone three times, and the receiver will fall.

Zoom in to the receiver and use the knife to open the listening head.

Once the circuit board becomes visible, set the connectors as you see in the image below.

screenshot of Samsara Room telephone puzzle solution

Photo: Rusty Lake

With the right connections, the circuit board will get power, and the speaker holes will start to flicker. Tap on the speaker several times to release sparks and get the third flower petal.

For the fourth flower petal just head over to the drawer wall and pick it up.

From here on, the game gets freakier, and the puzzles get tougher.

Tap on the old man’s mouth twice to open it and then tap on it again to enter the dead body.

Welcome to the dead man dimension. We’ll collect the egg from this dimension.

screenshot of Samsara Room dead body puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

As you go deeper into the old man’s body, you’ll reach a forest. With every tap on the screen, you’ll go deeper into the forest.

On every screen, there’s a firefly that you need to capture. Keep tapping on the firefly whenever you see it to capture it. There are four fireflies, and you must catch all of them to solve one puzzle and unlock a new one.

screenshot of Samsara Room dead body puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

At the end of the forest, you’ll reach another puzzle that looks like a clock and an Ouija board mixed into one. To solve this puzzle, you need to point the four hands to their respective symbols.

These four hands represent the FOUR dimensions that we’ve been through.

“I” is the human dimension. “II” is the fish dimension. III is the gecko dimension. “IV” is the worm dimension. You need to correspond the Roman numerals of every dimension with the right symbol.

Remember the symbols I showed you in the mirror of every dimension? Don’t worry if you don’t. Here’s the solution.

screenshot of Samsara Room dead body puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Once you solve it, the board will reveal the egg.

With the petals and egg collected, it’s time to switch dimensions once again.

By placing the petals and the egg on the altar window, we will now travel to the bird dimension.

With the walls gone, the view changes drastically. But the furniture is still there, with a few additions.

In the bird dimension, players have to collect four feathers and create a baby!

We’ll start with the feathers.

Go to the altar window to pick up the egg we found inside the old man’s body. Then head over to the clock wall. You’ll see a nest there with two eggs. Place the third egg in the nest and break all three.

Once you break all the eggs, an 8-step puzzle begins. Different birds and objects will pop out of the broken eggshells. Tap on the ones pointed to in the images below to complete the puzzle.

You need to tap on the object that looks identical to the ones pointed out in the images below. The position doesn’t matter.

Complete this puzzle to get the first feather.

The next puzzle is hidden in plain sight.

Go back to the mirror wall and click on the clouds. The objective here is to move the clouds until they morph into an object.

There are four clouds.

The top left one will morph into a fish when moved towards the bottom right. Move the cloud on the top right of the screen to the bottom left to form an egg. Drag the bottom right cloud to the top left to get the worm.

Lastly, the cloud on the bottom left of the screen transforms into a gecko when moved towards the top right of the screen.

screenshot of Samsara Room cloud puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Once you clear those up, another singular cloud appears on the screen. Move it to the middle of the screen, and it will turn into a clock head with a timestamp of 7:25.

screenshot of Samsara Room cloud puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Go to the clock wall and set the time to 7:25. This will change the time to near sunset.

On the same wall, there’s a nest where we played the egg and bird puzzle. You’ll now see a sunflower in that nest. Pick that up.

After that, go to the wall with the side table drawer. As you turn to that wall, you’ll see a paper airplane floating around. Tap on it to drop it on the floor and open it. There’s the second feather and another clue- “rise up.”

screenshot of Samsara Room feather location

Photo: Rusty Lake

Head over to the telephone wall and pick up the receiver. Alphabets will fly out once again. Spell “rise up.” As you spell it out, a hot air balloon shows up. It’ll go left when you tap on it.

Once it disappears go to the clock wall to find it again and tap on it. You’ll finally get to zoom in on the hot air balloon. Tap on the knob to turn on the gas and use the matches to light it up.

screenshot of Samsara Room hot air balloon puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

As it starts to ascend, cut the rope of the sandbag.

After the sandbag drops to the floor, tap on it FOUR times to get some sand, a box, and some plates.

screenshot of Samsara Room sandbag puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Pick up the sand, put it in the pot above the side table drawer, and plant the sunflower in that pot. Click and hold on to the sun and move it around until the sunflower pot falls and drops a sunflower seed.

screenshot of Samsara Room sunflower puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Before doing anything else, go through all the drawers to pick up a weight and find some clues.

In the first drawer, you’ll see two timestamps- 14:00 for the afternoon and 19:25 for the evening. Similarly, the second drawer also has clues for an upcoming puzzle. We’ll get to that in a moment.

Pick up a weight from the bottom drawer and head to the clock wall.

Set the clock hands to afternoon, that is 14:00 or 02:00.

Return to the drawer wall, and you’ll see a squirrel sitting on a tree branch holding a feather. Trade the sunflower seed for the feather.

screenshot of Samsara Room sunflower puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

After that, go to the mirror wall and hang the two plates we found in the sandbag on the two hooks. We’ll be using this weighing mechanism and the various objects we have to figure out what time to set on the clock to get to nighttime.

We did get a clue in the first drawer if you remember.

The clue suggests that night comes at worm|heart: gecko|fish.

After solving the weight puzzle, we can figure out that the worm is 0, the gecko is 1, the heart is 4, and the fish is 5.

screenshot of Samsara Room gameplay

Photo: Rusty Lake

So, combining both puzzles means nighttime is 04:15.

Set the clock hands to 4:15 to bring the night and access the next puzzle: the owl puzzle.

You’ll see the shadow of an owl on the drawer wall tree. It’ll go and sit on top of the clock when you tap on it. Before chasing after the owl, open the third drawer to find clues for the owl puzzle.

The papers say, “The owl looked to the right while he spread his wings.” This means you have to rotate the owl’s head so his eyes face right. The next clue is “he turned again to look at me.” So, we have to bring his head back to the original position.

On the second page, it says, “He looked to the left.” But the owl’s head won’t rotate to the left so you’ll have to rotate his head right three times, until his eyes face left. After that, rotate it back to its original position.

The images below will clear up any confusion you might have.

Lastly, “He turned his head all the way back.” So, rotate the owl’s head backward.

When you solve the Samsara room owl puzzle, the owl will drop the fourth feather and fly away for good.

screenshot of Samsara Room owl puzzle solution

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now we have the four feathers. All that’s left is to create the baby.

To do that, we’ll need to figure out how to get to the morning time in the bird dimension. For that, we’ll go back to the clock wall and solve the box puzzle that we got from the sandbox of the hot air balloon.

The box has four dials that move vertically. Above each dial is an eye. Every eye’s eyeball is in a different position.

screenshot of Samsara Room eye puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Zoom out and go to the drawer wall with the sunflower pot. You’ll see the moon. Zoom in a little, and you’ll see a small cut. Take the knife and start cutting. Tap on it several times to reveal a full eyeball.

screenshot of Samsara Room eye puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Now, move the eyeball to the positions you saw in the box. A symbol will show up for every position. Those are the symbols that you need to correspond on the vertical dial of the box.

This is what the box will look like with all the right patterns put in place.

screenshot of Samsara Room eye puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

Click on the hook to open the box. There’s a pocket watch inside. The inner mechanism of the pocket watch is all messed up. Put all the gears in their places, and the watch will show another time stamp.

Here’s what the gears look like when in the right place.

screenshot of Samsara Room watch puzzle

Photo: Rusty Lake

The hands of the pocket watch will stop at 7:45.

That’s the time stamp we need to set on the old clock to get to morning time.

Once morning comes, you’ll see a stork sitting in the nest. It’s here to deliver the baby, but you’ll have to feed it first. Feed him the worm, gecko, heart, and the fish.

After that, keep tapping on the stork until he vomits a baby.

screenshot of Samsara Room baby

Photo: Rusty Lake

That baby is what this has all been about, so you better pick it up.

We’re almost at the end now.

Head to the altar window. Place the baby on the plate and put the feathers in the corner platforms.

Enter the portal once again, and tap on the cube twice.

This time you won’t be transported to a different dimension. Instead, you’ll see a big white cube. Tap on it several times to dismantle the cube, which is, in fact, the 4-walled room that we’ve been in all this time.

screenshot of Samsara Room baby

Photo: Rusty Lake

Tap on the various objects floating around and finally tap on the baby to finish Samsara Room.

Conclusion

Samsara Room certainly isn’t the easiest of escape room games because of its overall setting and storyline. However, those who like a challenge won’t mind the above-average difficulty level of the puzzles and the escape room as a whole.
