Escape From The Shadows is finally here! This sequel goes hand-in-hand with Another Shadow, and for puzzle and dark mystery lovers, this game is definitely for you! Developed by Dark Dome, this thrilling puzzle game is available to download from the Play Store.
In this game, you will embark on an adventure with Detective Ren Larsen, who will work through puzzles in order to help Carissa find Bastian and Laia, and bring them back from the afterlife.
Gameplay
You will start off in Bastian’s house which he grew up in as a child. Starting on the first floor, we will refer to this room as the sitting room, the following clues are displayed:

Select the table with the three photographs, and then selecting the photograph on the right-hand side, will reveal a silver key. Pick it up by tapping on it.

When you enter the study room, select the stand with pictures of figurines; you will notice that tapping on the picture will rotate the image, revealing a position on square blocks. This clue will be used for the chessboard.

The Landing
The following clues are revealed on the Landing:

If you proceed to the right on the landing, another area will be revealed. Here you will find the following clues:
- A roll of scotch tape on the shelf by the cactus and books; pick it up.
- A bookshelf, on the third shelf you will see a yellow box, open the box and take the electrical cord out.
- On the mini table, you will find a fingerprint lock, as well as a folder containing a sheet of paper. Pick up the sheet of paper.
Proceed to the study room located downstairs and use the electrical cord you obtained, by plugging the cord into the electrical socket below the table with the tablet.

Using the piece of paper you collected from the folder upstairs, enter the arrows in the direction the paper reveals. Each row you complete will reveal a symbol. See the image below:

Proceed to the sitting room and enter the symbols into the purple box situated on the table. Pick up the latex glove and the key from inside the box.
Proceed to the first floor and use the blue key to unlock the door.
Taking note of the wardrobe clothes and the curtains, as well as their colors, will reveal the code needed to open the safe.
The code will be as follows:
- Red – one knot = Red 1
- Blue – three knots = Blue 3
- Purple – five knots = Purple 5
- Green – four knots = Green 4

Once you have entered the code, you are able to use the external drive on the computer. Select the external drive, then select the computer to plug it in.
The computer will display an image with four squares. Each square will reveal an image with symbols.
Proceed to the landing and use those symbols in their correct order to open the red box situated on the table.
When the box opens, a bottle of acid will be revealed. Pick the bottle up and proceed to the table with the empty bowl on it.
Take the rusted key out of your inventory and place it in the bowl. Use the bottle of acid to dissolve the rust on the key.

Use the latex glove to remove the key from the acid.
Use the white key to unlock the red door in the second area of the landing.
When you proceed through the red door, the following clues are revealed:
Remove the paper from the last drawer in the red chest of drawers. Pick up the blue book from the cupboard, in the second room.
Proceed to the landing and take a look at the calendar mounted on the wall we saw earlier.
Using the blue book, each image reveals a number. These numbers will be used in the order they are seen, for example:
First page – boy with the number ten on his shirt.
Second page – four snails.
Third page – birthday cake with number twenty-three.
Fourth page – wheel, with twelve sections.
If we take a look at the calendar, these numbers can be used to figure out which symbols we will need to open the cupboard located in the study.

The symbols will need to be entered in the same order that they are revealed in the book. In this instance, it will be ten, four, twenty-three, and then twelve.

Remove the wrench and figurine from the cupboard.
Proceed to the sitting room and add the figurine to the chessboard. Using the images displayed in the study room, place the figurines in the correct allocated squares using the images as an example.

Collect the battery and proceed to the room upstairs where the x-ray machine is located.
Use the wrench to remove the two bolts on the x-ray machine, and tap on the cover to open the slot. Insert the battery inside the slot.
Use the paper you have in your inventory to place the objects on the table one at a time. In my game, the objects are as follows:
- Duck
- Vase
- Clock
- Rocket Ship
As you press the play button for each object, a symbol will be shown which you will use on the cupboard mounted on the wall.
Collect the sandpaper and bag of flour.
Proceed to the room where the footsteps are heard, the study. Use the bag of flour by selecting the flour in your inventory and touching your screen. Watch the cut scene.
Enter the room that has been revealed behind the staircase.
You will find numerous clues in this room. For starters, watch the cut scene when you select the table with the glass.
On the back wall, you will find half-shown shapes. Use the sandpaper on the wall to reveal these shapes completely.

Once these shapes have been revealed, use them on the blue cabinet against the wall on your left-hand side.
Collect the blade cutter, as well as the paintbrush.
Use the bag of flour on the paintbrush by selecting the flour in your inventory, and then selecting the paintbrush.
Take the paintbrush and use it on the glass to reveal the fingerprint. Use scotch tape to remove the fingerprint from the surface.
Proceed to the second area on the landing and use the scotch tape on the fingerprint sensor.

Remove the vacuum hose and proceed back to the hidden room behind the bookshelf.
Place the vacuum hose on the vacuum and push the power button for it to work. Watch the cut scene. Use the blade cutter to open the bag and remove the card from the bag.

Proceed to the room with the metal safe situated on the red chest of drawers that was locked earlier. Insert the card in the slot and remove the document. Watch the cut scene.
Once you have completed the cut scene, you will be given a map to decipher, and place the pieces correctly to reveal a map of your next destination.

Escape From The Shadows: The Dungeons
Bastian and Laia can be seen in a dungeon, which we will have to help them escape.
Start off by going to the left. You will find a knight desperate for water, as well as a red-handled lever in the wall behind the knight. Pick up the lever.
Proceed to the left again, and open the blue door on the right. Inside this room, You will notice hands coming out of the wall. Touch them in a specific order to enable the hands to open the box.

Collect the key and the ring. There are multiple clues in this room, which we will return to in a bit.
Proceed up the stairs and use the old key to open the green door. Collect the hangar from the rack with the plant and books.
The hands protruding out of the books show you the order in which to use the symbols. These symbols will be used in the very first room we appeared in, on the cabinet.
Enter the sequence as follows:
- Water 1
- Sun 2
- Star 3
- Moon 4
The cabinet will reveal a pair of pliers.

Select the pliers in your inventory, and use them on the coat hangar. This will make a hook, which we are able to use on one of the doors.
Proceed to the right of the room with the cabinet, from which you have just collected the pliers. Use the hook you made on the door with the blue stripe, by looking through the hole in the wall.
Enter the room and take note of the numbers on the pipes, as these will come in handy later. The pipes can also be rotated.
In the various rooms, you will find books with notes sticking out of them. Find all of these notes and proceed to the frame with the animals. Using the notes, place the animals in their slots.

Remove the chicken leg from the slot. Proceed to the room with the green door and feed the chicken leg to the monsters, they will give you a magic spell to open the door that is cursed by magic, located on the landing to the right of the green door.
Place the spell on the door and enter the room. Watch the cut scene.
Tap on the pink bird and pick up the fish. Open the drawer and pick up the clear sheet of paper.
Proceed downstairs to the room with the blue door, and use the sheet of paper on the framed picture hanging above the fireplace.

Enter the symbols in the cabinet with the books in the same room, and collect the glass cutter.
Proceed all the way to the right and climb the flight of stairs to the area that has the tree trunk with a keyhole, and a glass frame with a pipe inside of it. Use the glass cutter to remove the piece of pipe.
Proceed to the room with all the pipes and add the piece of pipe so that the puzzle can be completed. See the image below:

Add the lever to the slot on the right-hand side of the fountain, and pull it. Add the fish to the water and collect the white key that the fish brings to you.
Proceed to the very top of the staircase on the right-hand side when you exit the room.
Use the key you found by placing the key in the tree trunk with the keyhole.

Collect the gem from the trunk and place the gem in the ring in your inventory.
Proceed to the room past the knight to your left, and place the ring on the skeleton’s finger. The skeleton is located behind the staircase. Collect the pink key which the skeleton will give to you.

Use the pink key to unlock the door beside the blue door, on the left.
Enter the room and collect the pouch located on the shelf. Look out of the window and take note of the direction the ghosts are moving in.
The first ghost on the left-hand side is moving in a circular motion. The second ghost on the top is moving in an up-and-down motion. The third ghost to the right is moving in a square formation, and the last ghost at the bottom is moving in a triangular motion.
These are the next clues to the box located at the very top of the stairs to the left, on the landing.

Collect the glass once you have opened this box, and proceed to the room with the fountain. Fill the glass with water and take it to the knight that is thirsty. Give the knight water and watch the cut scene.
When the knight disappears, collect some sand using the pouch you picked up earlier. Pick up the sword that is broken. Proceed to the top of the stairs on your right-hand side, where the tree is located.
Place the sand in the sandglass, and use the magnifying glass to reveal symbols.

Use these symbols on the chest located in the room with the eggs on the shelf.
Collect the seed from the chest and proceed to the room where the pink bird is located. Place the seeds on the ground and watch the cut scene.
Collect the egg and take note of the symbols revealed by the sunlight. Use these symbols on the chest located in the same room as the bird.
Collect the matches and the note from the chest. Proceed to the room with the eggs and use the paper you picked up to match the eggs in their collective spaces. Each egg has a pattern, and each shelf has empty spaces.
Using the paper, place the eggs in their respective places.

Collect the broken sword piece and place it on the hilt in your inventory. Make the sword whole again.
Proceed to the room with the fireplace, and use the matches to start a fire. Place the sword in the fire and wait for the sword to become whole again.
Take the sword to the very right side of your screen, and place the sword in the slot by the door, the one located at the bottom of the staircase. Open the door and enter. Watch the cut scene.
Escape From The Shadows: Laia
When you have finished watching the cut scene, Laia appears through a hole in the ground that appears to be underground.

Proceed through the first door on the left and note the following in this room:
- Chest on the floor
- The red door on the right
- Blue door on the left
- Well in the center of the floor

- An additional doorway you can pass through
Pass through the doorway and note the following:
- Lock under the rug
- Table with a coffee cup and sugar cubes, collet one sugar cube
- Window to the left
- Window on the right
An additional doorway you are able to pass through, when you pass through the doorway, the following screen is displayed:
- A blue box on the left, collect the piece of paper and the tube of toothpaste
- Two guardians standing guard before a doorway, they will not let you pass yet
- A window above the blue box
- A window with bugs flying around
- A hole beneath the staircase, with a coin you can collect
Proceed to the previous room and select the window on the right. You will see a guy dressed in a suit with a key lying on the counter. In order to take the key, you will need to feed him the sugar cube first.
Proceed to the room with the red and blue door. Use the blue key on the red door. You will then enter that room and find the following clues:
- Four coffins with symbols on them
- A table with stacked books
- Mounted cabinet against the wall
- A mini door that is currently locked
Using the coffins stacked against the wall, and the paper you managed to collect, tap on the selected coffins and take note of the number of times the noise is repeated. You will need to use this sound to unlock the red lock on the chest, in the room that you first entered.

Collect the scissors and the fork revealed once you have opened the chest.
On the shelf above the bars, you will see a stack of books. Open the book and use the scissors to cut out the image.
Proceed to the room with the coffins and do the same with the stack of books located on the table.
Proceed to the room with the guardians and select the window on the left. Use the fork to feed the monster.

Select the plate and use those symbols on the chest in the room with the red and blue door.
Collect the bell and the key.
Use the bone key to open the blue door. In this room, you will collect the jar on the bottom shelf of the blue chest of drawers, as well as the coin in the top drawer.
Use the stacked books in this room to enter the code in the blue cabinet in the room with the red door.

Collect the toothbrush, as well as the bag from this cabinet.
Go back to the room with the blue door and use the toothbrush and toothpaste to brush the monster’s teeth.
Collect the mushroom from the monster.
Proceed to the room with the red door and attach the bell to the wooden stand on the right-hand side, by the mini-door. Ring the bell by tapping on it and selecting the door.
Give the goblin the mushroom and take the small diamond he passes to you.
Proceed to the very first room and place the diamond in the open slot on the broken mirror.

The mirror will repair itself and you are able to enter an additional room behind the mirror.
Here you will find the following:
- Rope inside the cupboard, take it
- The final image you can cut out of the book
- A strange statue with four arms
- A window with a bird-like creature holding a box
Take the rope and attach it to the plastic bag, then proceed to the room with the well. Take the bag to the room with the blue door, and give the bag to the creature in the window.
The creature will give you a glowing ball, and move aside to reveal symbols you will use in the room with the rolled-up carpet, as well as the table with the sugar cubes.
Enter the symbols as indicated and take out the heart-shaped stone.

Place the glowing ball inside the jar and place the jar on the windowsill, where the bugs are flying around. You will capture a bug and be able to take it to the creature in the window, in the room behind the mirror.
The creature will give you an inkpad in return. Place the stone heart in the statue’s empty chest, and take the coin he will give you on the right-hand side.
Proceed to the room with the rolled-up carpet and hand over the coins to the guy in the window.
He will then give you a rubber stamp.
Proceed to the room with the mirror and take all four cut-out images, and place them on the floor by the bars.

Using the numbers and symbols provided, proceed to the room with the blue door, and enter the symbols according to the image below:

Remove the document and take it to the room with the rolled-up carpet, give the document to the guy in a suit, on the right-hand side in the window.
Place the document, along with the stamp and ink, on the counter before him. He will sign the document by stamping it and you can now take the document from him and hand it over to the guards.
Watch the cut scene.
Escape From The Shadows – The Next Step:
You are now facing harder challenges, and it seems almost impossible that Bastian and Laia will get out of this one alive.
Proceed to the right and note that one brick is a different shade than the rest. Tap on the brick and collect the candle. Climb down the stairs in the right-hand corner of your screen. Click on the arrow to the left and complete the puzzle you will find on the wall, by moving the bottom row according to the the ones on top.

Collect the red key and the knife.
Open the box found on the blue table in the room. Remove the bottle of cooking oil.
Proceed to the right again to the room with the blue door. On the blue table, you will find a pestle, as well as a purple book. Pick them both up.
Proceed down the stairs to the room where the bowl and recipe are located. Place the cooking oil in the bowl.
Use the red key to open the blue door in the area you first started out in.
When you enter the room, you will need to take the hexagon-shaped tile out of the drawer. Exit the room and add the tile to the wall, where similar tiles can be seen.
Using the colors as a reference, match the pieces according to the image below:

Take note of the direction the arms are pointing, as this will be used to solve the next puzzle, along with the images in the room with the puzzle pieces we solved earlier.
Using both of these clues, proceed to the room with the two statues, and purple monster, and enter the sequence as follows:

Remove the white key and the cross from the box. Use the white key to open the brown door as you climb up the stairs.
Using the purple book we obtained earlier, adjust the pieces on the wall and place them in their respective places:

Remove the blue key, as well as the shovel.
Use the blue key on the blue door as you come down the stairs and proceed to the right. Proceed through the door.
Use the shovel to remove the plant. On the very top shelf that is mounted against the wall, you will find a book with four squares. This is the next clue.
Proceed upstairs to the very first room with the blue door, and use these shapes to open the red lock by the blue flames. Light the candle in your inventory and go downstairs to the area with the book on a stand.
Place the lit candle in the candlestick holder located alongside the bookstand.

Proceed to the first area with the blue door and place the cross on the wall with the other 3 crosses. Using the clue we found in the book, adjust the shapes according to the clue:
Remove the salt and piece of paper from the slot.
Go to the room where the arrows were, and adjust the arrows according to the piece of paper you picked up. Collect the rubber bone, as well as the lens.
Continue to the room with the telescope and place the lens in the front. Take a look through the telescope and adjust the circles on the wall to match the images of the stars.

Remove the lighter and the bottle of alcohol.
Use the knife in the room with the curtain and boarded windows. Cut a piece of cloth using the knife. Proceed to the room downstairs where you will find the purple monster, and give him the rubber bone. Take the stick and go down the stairs again to the very dark room.
Place the stick in the bracket and place the cloth on the stick. Use the alcohol on the cloth and light the cloth using the lighter.

Inside the drawer of the red table, you will find a piece of paper, pick it up. Open the cabinet on the wall and pick up the rose, as well as the small pyramid.
Proceed to the very first room and place the pyramid in the available spot. Using the clue on the paper we picked up, place the pyramids in the correct location, according to their colors, as well as their numbers. See the image below:

In this case, it will be:
- Red 3
- Blue 2
- Green 4
- Purple 3
Remove the book from the slot and proceed downstairs to the room with the two statues with outstretched arms.
Using the book, adjust the icons in the statues hands according to the images:

The color sequence will then be entered on the far wall behind the two statues.
You will receive a purple key from the slot and you will need to use this key on the red book in the room with the arrows and plant.
Tear page 33 out of the book and proceed to the mixing bowl. Place the salt, and the rose in the bowl and watch the cut scene. Go to the room with the cooking fire and place the root, pink salt, and the page in the pan.

Light the fire using the lighter and watch the cut scene.
Escape From The Shadows – Bastian and Laia
You will find yourself in a room with Bastian and Laia.
Pick up the pile of straw, as well as the knife located in the cabinet.

Proceed to the left and climb the stairs to the top floor and enter the attic. Pick up the faucet located in the red pot plant.
Go downstairs to the room all the way on the right where you will see a tap without the faucet. Place the faucet on the tap and place the glass located in the room underneath the flowing water.
On the landing, you will see a photograph in a frame. Tap on the photograph to receive a seed.
In the attic, you will find a container with a formula for growing vegetables. Pick up this container and add it to the water. Place the seed in the pot where you found the faucet and add the water.

Using the knife, cut open the fruit and remove the yellow key, as well as the star-shaped object.
Use the yellow key to unlock the door on the landing. Remove the piece of stained glass from the drawer, and take a look at the image located in the purple book.
Place the straw on the pedestal and set it alight with the matches. This will keep the bees at bay. If you select the window, you will find a girl doll outside. Pick it up.
Proceed to the attic and use the sequence we saw earlier in the book to open the box.

Place the dress on the doll and give the doll to the little girl. She will give you a black key and you will find another clue behind her on the wall.
When you look at the ladder, you will notice a stick is not quite right, pick up the stick.
Place the star on the stick to make a magic wand. Proceed to the first room we were in with the cauldron and pile of straw. Place the wand in the cauldron to charge it.
Use the wand on the raven located in the attic. Use the black key to open the shackles on the raven’s feet. The crow will fly and collect the stained glass for you. pick it up.
Using the image we found on the wall behind the girl, proceed to the room on the landing and use it on the far wall. See the image below:

Collect the beekeeper gloves, as well as the stained glass.
Use the beekeeper gloves on the beehive and collect the corkscrew.
Proceed to the landing and remove the cork from the bottle using the corkscrew.
Use the paper to enter the correct sequence on the wall in the attic. Remove the final stained glass piece.

Proceed downstairs to the room with the mosaic pictures, and place the pieces in the correct places. A code will appear which you will then use on the box in the middle of the room.

Use the artifact against the shadow and watch the cut scene. I will not ruin the ending for you, this is one you have to see for yourself to believe it!
