Boasting an impressive character roster of more than sixty ‘heroes’, Path to Nowhere is an underrated real-time tower defense game that continues to add more powerful Sinners to its already-expansive line-up.

Being AISNO Games’ first mobile game project, the developers weren’t pulling their punches with it, resulting in the game’s strategic, high-octane experience where you arrest fearsome convicts wielding special abilities, commanding them under your watch afterward.

Eventually, you’ll have your hands full in deciding who to pick during specific in-game battles, so here’s a quick list categorizing them according to the best overall use and playability.

The Sinners

Set in a distant future, the world is changed by a global catastrophe commonly referred to as Nightfall. A gigantic unknown object had crashed onto Earth, throwing the world into pandemonium due to its after-effects, most notably the spread of Mania; a psychological contamination that alters the minds of people affected, turning them insane and hysterical.

A majority of those affected become deranged, with the most severe ones transforming into terrifying monsters. However, a small number of those contaminated by Mania have managed to subdue its mental effects, developing supernatural powers and abilities instead.

These unique individuals are called Sinners, and they hold the key to restoring order to the now-thriving metropolis, DisCity, that’s built atop the meteorite’s crash site. As Mania cases continue to run rampant, it’s your duty as the new Chief of the Minos Bureau of Crisis Control (MBCC) to capture, contain, and manage these dangerous Sinners, to combat the unnatural threats posed by those fully infected by Mania.

Tier List

Photo: AISNO Games

From reality-bending capabilities to elemental mastery, you can ‘recruit’ all sorts of incredible Sinners into your squad – in this case, arrest them before being redeployed as the MBCC’s agents.

It can be tough to discern which Sinner is better suited for combat than others, especially since some post-game missions require strict skill synergies between them to ensure success. If this is true for you, then you might find this Path to Nowhere tier list useful.

To clarify, Sinners are ranked based on these determining criteria:

  • Comparison of Sinners’ basic-level abilities; up to Exclusive Crimebrand skills (no Shackle unlocks, non-maxed skills, etc.)
  • Sinners’ effectiveness in performing their particular roles (Fury, Umbra, etc.)
  • Ease of learning the Sinners’ playing styles
  • Individual prowess (no pair/ team synergies)

As such, this ranking guide isn’t absolute, but it provides a good basis for you to identify which Sinners work best with each other in your party compositions. With that out of the way, let’s get right into it.

Tier 1 (Extreme)

Photo: AISNO Games

Considered the most overpowered (OP) individuals in the game, these seven Sinners can single-handedly carry your squad through many incredibly tough missions. Their terrifying potential can range from destroying multiple grids of enemies with ease to keeping the whole team alive under the most improbable odds.

  • Deren
  • Nox
  • Langley
  • Eirene
  • Hamel
  • Pacassi
  • Ariel

Deren

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Fury

The first time-limited Sinner added into the game, Deren is thought to be the most formidable amongst them all, right off the bat.

Her kit (catalog of abilities) focuses on supreme attack damage to enemies inside a single grid, like her Crimebrand Ultimate, Worthless Film, and she becomes immensely scarier the longer she stays in a battle due to buffs provided by her passive, 24 Frames.

Nox

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Fury

Nox is the easiest S-ranked Sinner that you can recruit after completing the game’s prologue/ tutorial.

Unlocked as a reward for completing the 14-day mission provided early on during your playthrough, Nox can deal tremendous amounts of area-of-effect (AOE) damage, Touch of Despair, to all enemies inside 3×3 grids in front of her, not to mention her permanent attack stacks, Soul Corruption, and defense-lowering ability shared with every ally, Nether Intimidation.

Langley

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Reticle

Langley is seen as the game’s best ‘sniper’ because of her long-range, high-powered revolver shots that melt enemies grouped inside singular grids.

Her passive, Causality, is what truly maximizes her potential, applying a mark to every enemy that she hits. Afterward, every time Langley attacks other enemies, the marked ones continue to receive a portion of the damage as well, and they create a destructive AOE explosion that damages others inside the same grid upon death due to Execution of Fate.

Eirene

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Arcane

Eirene deserves her reputation as the scariest Arcane Sinner in Path to Nowhere, primarily because of her 3-form Ultimate, Contract Destruction.

Depending on the target, Eirene’s Ultimate can be a devastating AOE black hole, a core-breaking spell, or a massive Boss-killer attack. Plus, her other abilities add more damage output to her Ultimate, especially her Mania Intensify which adds a 20% Ultimate-damage boost straight up.

Hamel

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Catalyst

The perfect healer, Hamel’s kit exclusively centers on keeping every party member alive. Her normal attack is replaced by a regular healing effect to all allies inside 3×3 grids around her, though her Exclusive Crimebrand skill, Boundless Solo, changes this when prompted.

Her Ultimate, Bewitching Dance, significantly improves the healing effectiveness for a short while, and her passive, Infinite Spin, allows her to regularly heal everyone throughout the entire map after 90 seconds have passed during a battle.

Pacassi

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

Although Pacassi is specified as a Fury, she could easily be classed as an S-rank Umbra because of her AOE nuclear radiation field that deals stacks of damage and slows enemies caught within it.

All her other abilities also complement her Ultimate, Thermonuclear Reaction, by adding more radiation damage stacks on top of those already present, making her the perfect damage-over-time (DOT) Sinner in the game.

Ariel

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Catalyst

If Hamel specializes in gradually healing the entire group, Ariel bests her in terms of targeted, active healing effects.

She can create a radial healing area, Abyssal Glimmer, around her, recovering allies’ HP insanely fast. Add her Mania Intensify, Benediction passive, and Crimebrand skill, Pure White Funeral, into the mix, and it’s nearly impossible for anyone in the party to die.

Tier 2 (Dangerous)

Photo: AISNO Games

Twenty-four Sinners have been grouped into the Tier 2 bracket, upon which they are extremely efficient, deadly, and adept at their roles during battles. They might not be as omnipotent as those chosen for Tier 1, but they can comfortably overcome their supposedly superior counterparts if you pair these individuals with those that can empower them further.

  • Etti
  • Demon
  • Zoya
  • Serpent
  • Bai Yi
  • Oak Casket
  • Stargazer
  • Enfer
  • Ninety-Nine
  • Wendy
  • Dolly
  • Horo
  • Sumire
  • McQueen
  • Wolverine
  • Victoria
  • Ignis
  • Hecate
  • Mr. Fox
  • Labyrinth
  • Gekkabijin
  • EMP
  • Kelvin
  • Joan

Etti

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Arcane

Etti is one of the latest Sinners to be introduced in Path to Nowhere, and she is quite potent in dishing out massive single-target damage. Able to conjure pocket constellations, Game Master, that rain celestial aspects towards enemies within a specified area, these can be aimed at fewer foes to improve damage output.

Although her Game Rules passive has a minuscule chance to let enemies drop different Gem buffs, her other skill, Accelerate Operation, and Exclusive Crimebrand, Dragon and Creator, allow more celestial aspects to appear, elevating her damage-per-second (DPS) potential.

Demon

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Endura

There is possibly no other tank as immovable as Demon in the game, and his kit offers him a shield that continues to grow stronger depending on his total HP.

His Ultimate, Frontline Defence, is already nifty considering it grants a shield for every ally behind him. But, his passives ensure that he regenerates a personal shield consistently throughout battle, not including his unparalleled Crimebrand skill, Treacherous Beast, yet. Let him lead the group with 1-2 healers supporting him, and your entire party will benefit from it.

Zoya

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Fury

Zoya is next in line, and she’s all about brute, physical damage. Although her abilities don’t deal any core damage, her attack speed builds up every time she attacks a singular enemy repeatedly via Fiery Invasion, increasing her threat.

However, it’s her Ultimate, Legion’s Arrival, that creates havoc for enemies inside 3×3 grids around her, dishing out loads of AOE hits to destroy them. Couple it with her Exclusive Crimebrand, Hey, Ymir, and she becomes immune to any debuff or crowd-control (CC) effects for a short period.

Serpent

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Umbra

If you wish for a Sinner who does tons of magic damage to enemies, Serpent is one of the more impressive ones. Her specialty lies in the fang marks that she applies to enemies subjected to her skills, Serpent Constriction and Ophidian Domination

These deal unbelievable amounts of magic damage every time enemies receive two fang marks, which is undeniably easy especially if you boost Serpent’s attack speed on the battlefield. Moreover, her Crimebrand move, Dream Wonderland, passively generates fang marks onto foes caught inside its AOE tiles every two seconds, guaranteeing multiple kills every few seconds after using it.

Bai Yi

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Umbra

When talking about a Sinner who excels in critical hit rate builds, then Bai Yi should be the first in mind. Wielding two swords, she slices her enemies into pieces by optimizing her critical rates as much as she can using her passive, Warmup Exercise, and Ultimate, Tempest.

Furthermore, her Mania Intensify confirms a 50% critical hit rate increase after breaking an enemy’s core, which is guaranteed via Tempest. Whenever her critical hit rate exceeds 100%, the excess chance is then converted into direct damage by her Exclusive Crimebrand skill, Buried Underground.

Oak Casket

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Reticle

Just like Langley, Oak Casket is a Sinner who favors guns as her choice of weaponry. Instead of using one, though, she wields two of them, which become stronger the more energy she has stored, thanks to her passive, Psionic Lament.

Being a long-ranged Reticle, you won’t use her for close engagements, unless for clearing out 3×3 tiles using her Ultimate, Funeral Elegy, which does incredible AOE damage to foes affected. Her Crimebrand skill, Black Mass, combines both her pistols into a single weapon instead, and it does high attack damage while shooting enemies spanning the entire arena.

Stargazer

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Arcane

Another cosmic magic user in the veins of Etti, Stargazer summons up to two victory stars using her Ultimate skill, Victory Star; each automatically attacks enemies moving inside their range. The difference is that her stars permanently stay on the map unless destroyed or manually exploded, while Etti’s celestial aspects need to be prompted every time.

Her general mechanic revolves entirely around these conjured stars, each applying Astral Guidance stacks that increase an enemy’s damage taken upon every hit. Stargazer can even create another victory star on top of an existing one to deal double AOE damage, besides her Crimebrand move, Dreamland, summoning more stars that encircle herself and planted ones to apply DOT damage too.

Enfer

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Catalyst

Enfer is a scary Sinner that revolves around the Fear mechanic. Her Ultimate, Dark Submersion, boosts the damage of an ally while generating up to three Fear ripples that mark enemies affected, thanks to Enfer’s passive, Horrific Mark.

These marks allow an ally who’s placed directly in front of Enfer at the start of a battle to deal 25% extra damage to the enemies marked. When it comes to Enfer herself, she instantly deals heavy magic damage to foes that receive Fear, regardless of who she’s currently attacking at the time. Even better, her Crimebrand ability, The False One, dishes significant amounts of magic damage, besides destroying two cores and applying more Fear, simultaneously.

Ninety-Nine

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

Ninety-Nine is a brutal combatant, and her kit makes use of her Mania Intensify ability that allows her to steal HP from enemies hit. She’s even more fearsome because all her skills – both passive and Ultimate – gradually improve her attack speed and damage as well.

In terms of her Crimebrand skill, Warm Redemption, Ninety-Nine might be the first Sinner who doesn’t die after receiving the first killing blow, becoming invincible for a short time instead. Ninety-Nine’s Mania mutation could have turned her into an actual vampire, which might explain her condition in Path to Nowhere.

Wendy

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

A chainsaw maniac, Wendy’s a menace to go up against in combat. Luckily for you, she reaches her full potential when she’s on the MBCC’s side. Due to her Mania Intensify ability, her attacks immediately benefit from a 20% increase against non-core enemies.

Apart from that, she enjoys shredding her foes mercilessly using her chainsaw, with her Ultimate, Farewell, unleashing an unblockable 5-time AOE attack around herself. Her passive, Fear Fester, slightly boosts her attack further depending on the number of enemies present on the map, up to a maximum of six stacks.

Dolly

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

Unlike other Sinners, Dolly’s preferred weapon is more crude and simple; a baseball bat. That being said, her abilities make her attack faster and stronger the longer a battle progresses, making her a quick pick for the frontlines.

Her Ultimate, Manic, doubles her attack speed and improves her damage for the next six attacks. While this doesn’t sound impressive enough, her passives, Omen of Chaos and Ball Practice, permanently improve her attack speed and damage as well, cumulatively adding the benefits. Her Exclusive Crimebrand, Dream Chaser, applies AOE damage to her basic attacks too, so there’s also that.

Horo

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

Revering Zoya as her leader, Horo follows in her idol’s fighting style by prioritizing physical attacks using her giant axe. Still, she differs in terms of her durability, because her passives, Strength Battle Mark and Devour, slightly reduce incoming damage as well as buff her healing respectively.

Her Crimebrand skill, Indestructible Legion, and Mania Intensify increase her maximum HP and healing effects received too, cementing her stance as an unbeatable brawler. Her Ultimate, Earthquake, also toughens her defenses, dealing physical and core damage to enemies hit.

Sumire

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Umbra

Sumire is a beautiful Sinner who masks her intimidating fighting style under her fragile, kimono-clad appearance. Using her umbrella blade, she inflicts Life Loss (a Bleed debuff) on enemies hit by her passive, Crazed Sakura, which prompts every sixteen seconds.

To truly utilize her, you need to take advantage of her Mania Intensify ability which increases her damage by 6% against enemies afflicted by Life Loss. This affliction hurts enemies more when Sumire unlocks her Exclusive Crimebrand, Lethal Blossom. Even better, her Ultimate, Impermanence, removes two cores from enemies hit, which is fantastic.

McQueen

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Umbra

An art enthusiast, McQueen’s role as an Umbra isn’t dependent on her individual might. Instead, she can sculpt another version of herself into life via Sculpture; it acts as an independent party member as well. This adds an extra Sinner to your group during a battle.

While the sculpture is ‘alive’, its stats completely resemble McQueen’s, attacking foes by itself. Nevertheless, it becomes a powerful 2-core attack, thanks to McQueen’s Mania Intensify ability, if you manually destroy it using Sculpture again (or enemies defeating it).

While the copy is present, though, both McQueen and the doppelganger benefit from damage boosts, and her Crimebrand skill, Painting Covered in Blood, lets you specify which party member the sculpture will copy its stats from.

Wolverine

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Reticle

Armed with a crossbow, Wolverine doesn’t seem imposing as his name suggests. Don’t be fooled, though, because he is a supreme damage dealer that benefits the entire team when he’s on the battlefield.

First, his normal attacks can hit enemies across long distances on every map. His crossbow shots become more lethal due to his passives, Hunt and Long Howl, as well.

His Ultimate, Trap, does as it says; it plants traps inside each grid of 3×3 tiles, and enemies triggering them will be damaged and stunned for 2 seconds, boosting Wolverine’s next basic attack afterward because of his Exclusive Crimebrand ability, Stray Dog of the Rust.

Victoria

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Arcane

Master of blood magic, Victoria is a frightening Sinner for enemies to contend with. By channeling her blood as the catalyst of her magic powers, she can unleash ruinous attacks to destroy foes.

Her Ultimate, Tempest, creates gushing waves of blood that become spikes to pierce enemies caught within its wake. This works in tandem with her ability, Red Rose, which applies an effect that stacks onto enemies, making them suffer unavoidable magic damage, and healing Victoria too.

This isn’t taking her other abilities into account yet, strengthening her attacks depending on the amount of HP that she loses during battle.

Ignis

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Arcane

Able to spew fire out of thin air, Ignis does more than burn her enemies to a crisp; she can summon small meteorites to wreak havoc around a targeted area on the map. The levels of destruction that she can do justify her spot in Tier 2.

Her Ultimate, Overload Sparks, lets her conjure meteorites that apply Burn DOT because of her Uncontrollable Blaze. Her Storm of Flames passive guarantees an additional one after she attacks five times, and her Crimebrand skill, Ashes to Ashes, does the same but on a larger scale, affecting her Ultimate.

Hecate

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Arcane

Hecate is the first Sinner that you recruit in the game, and she could easily be put into Tier 1 had her kit been prepped with AOE damage. That being said, her Ultimate can damage two cores due to her Mania Intensify ability, and her Crimebrand move, Dreams & Shadows, permanently unleashes her demonic entity, Nightmare, onto the battlefield.

As such, Hecate can essentially do two things at her full potential; eliminate single-grid targets, and summon another party member (Nightmare) to the current group. Her passive, Into the Night, adds stacks of increased damage taken to enemies, and her Ghastly Shadow instantly gives 10% magic penetration to every ally on the map.

Mr. Fox

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Catalyst

Mr. Fox’s kit is decked with fantastic passive abilities that make him a crucial party member for many Path to Nowhere builds. His presence alone extends enemies’ Break (the vulnerable stage after cores are destroyed), weakening their skill damages, and elevating allies’ attacks, all at once.

To ensure this, though, you will need to level him to Phase 3, unlocking his Exclusive Crimebrand, Heaven & Hell. His Ultimate, Defend, improves every group member’s defenses and makes them impervious to CC effects too, so you have a superb party-wide buff immediately after recruiting him.

Labyrinth

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Umbra

Labyrinth’s playing style befits that of a mobile assassin, constantly moving around the map to attack unsuspecting enemies from behind. Because of her passive, Bioelectricity, which increases her attack after doing so, you will need to pick the right time to use her Ultimate, Purge Order, to place her directly behind targets, preferably who are locked in combat against another Sinner.

If played properly, she rivals other top killers on your team, especially after unlocking her Exclusive Crimebrand, Master Kitty, which guarantees extra attack damage and critical hits. Labyrinth’s Mania Intensify also resets her Ultimate earlier, meaning she can do it up to three times if the second one removes an enemy’s final core (results in the enemy entering Break state).

Gekkabijin

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Umbra

When battling Bosses, Gekkabijin is amongst the best Sinners to take them out. A true Boss-killer, she’s capable of destroying up to four cores protecting a target.

Her Ultimate, Headhunt, deals insane damage and breaks a core once. Thanks to her Mania Intensify ability, an extra core will be taken out too. What’s more, Headhunt can be stored up to two charges, totaling a whopping 4-core attack when used twice in a row.

The only catch to her play style is that her energy can only be charged by her basic attacks, so she needs to always be on the offense to become effective.

EMP

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Reticle

EMP is another murderous Sinner who you can recruit to redirect her psychopathic urges toward eliminating the MBCC’s high-value targets. Her kit is created solely on finishing enemies off, and her passive, Hypercharge, cumulatively increases her attack speed for the entire battle.

Her Ultimate, Ultra EM Arrow!, always hits an enemy with the lowest HP inside a specified grid, dealing unbelievable damage and breaking one core. Her Mania Intensify increases its potency by letting it break another core as well, totaling two. With Double Arrow as her passive, she can reuse her Ultimate immediately (without recharge) upon dispatching off a foe.

Kelvin

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Arcane

For inducing CC onto enemy waves, Kelvin can Slow and Freeze those trapped within her skills’ affected tiles. Couple her Ultimate, Frigid Zone, and passive, Frozen Freshness, and you can decrease nearby enemies’ movement by a total of 50%.

Her Exclusive Crimebrand ability, Self-Betrayal, makes her Ultimate’s Slow effect stackable, limiting foes’ traversal even more, every second. Upon the fourth stack, they become frozen, giving your party the chance to land free hits onto them.

Joan

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Arcane

The guitarist, Joan, is a unique Sinner who uses her guitar-playing skills as her means of attack. Her powers come from the tunes that she plays, applying stacks of musical marcato by way of her AOE Ultimate, Marcato Frenzy.

Upon the third marcato stack, the foes affected will be struck by a focused, magic attack due to her passive, Resonance Effect. An enemy can be hit twice by this move, as long as they stay within the Marcato Frenzy’s range. Combo these with her Crimebrand skill, Best Concert in History, and enemies inside the specified tiles will continue to receive immense burst damage.

Tier 3 (Formidable)

Photo: AISNO Games

In Path to Nowhere, you need to quickly eliminate waves of enemies before they overcome your party’s defenses. In Tier 3, these five Sinners aren’t as efficient at defeating foes as those mentioned before. That being said, they can still provide value to the group when planning their deployments carefully.

  • Cinnabar
  • Kawa-kawa
  • Chameleon
  • Pricilla
  • Countess Chelsea

Cinnabar

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Endura

There aren’t many shield-focused Sinners in the game, and Cinnabar is amongst the few. Just like Demon, her kit exclusively caters towards generating shields to protect allies, but hers are slightly weaker, yet cover more people and occur regularly.

Her Ultimate, Wall of Sighs, creates a barrier that generates gradually-growing shields for allies inside it, at the expense of Cinnabar being immovable. Her passive, Comprehensive Field, instantly grants a small shield to everyone at the start of a battle too, and these are slightly strengthened by her Mania Intensify ability.

However, her Exclusive Crimebrand, The Meaning of Guard, and passive, Pressure Shield, are what make her shine; both combine to ensure that a 5-second shield is automatically generated for everyone in the group, every twenty-five seconds.

Kawa-kawa

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Endura

Unlike other Enduras, Kawa-kawa’s mechanic is solely reliant on his abilities’ healing factors instead of granting better defensive resistances. His overall worth to a party increases as a battle ensues for longer due to his Ultimate, Protective Beacon, but the ‘healing shield’ can only be given to one ally at a time, every time his energy is completely charged.

That being said, when multiple protective beacons have been placed on the map, his personal shield gains more magic resistance thanks to Windproof Pulse. Apart from that, his other passive, Safe Route, and Crimebrand skill, Rising from the Wild Sands, give better heals every time Kawa-kawa uses his Ultimate again.

Chameleon

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Catalyst

If you’re building a squad that relies on attack speed buffs to improve its total DPS output, then Chameleon is the perfect Sinner for the job. She isn’t a mighty combatant by herself, but her passive abilities, Mass Hypnosis and Transference, feed her allies benefiting from her Ultimate, Suggestion, with multiple attack speed stacks.

Slowly, your most dangerous Sinners’ attack damages will begin snowballing, clearing out waves of enemies in quick succession. Plus, Chameleon’s Crimebrand, Pendulum, gives more additional attack speed boosts to allies, prompted every time she executes her tenth basic attack.

Pricilla

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Reticle

Understandably, for many players out there, Pricilla is seen as a Sinner who deserves to be in Tier 2 instead because of her outrageous single-target damage potential. Using her submachine guns to demolish enemies, they aren’t as powerful as other Sinner’s attacks, though, but her kit is what makes up for it tenfold.

Pricilla’s Ultimate, Curtain Call, lets her go crazy by unleashing a barrage of bullets, her normal shots essentially firing two bullets at once. This isn’t too destructive by itself, but when supplemented by her passive, Exclusive Stage, Mania Intensify characteristic, and Exclusive Crimebrand, Phantom Thief and Rabbit, she can conveniently take away huge chunks of Bosses’ HP in mere seconds.

Countess Chelsea

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Endura

A top fugitive wanted by the MBCC, Countess Chelsea is a popular character in the game. Although her ability to bring forth an indomitable panther, Siri, using her Ultimate, Dear Kitty, offers an extra body for tanking and damage, it’s her (and Siri’s) chance to Petrify enemies for two seconds that makes her important to a team’s composition.

Countess Chelsea’s true value isn’t exactly seen until her Exclusive Crimebrand, Shining Redemption, is unlocked, though. It allows you to instantly heal Siri and Petrify foes around it by command (once energy is fully charged), which comes in handy when you’re cornered into a tight spot.

Tier 4 (Competent)

Photo: AISNO Gamest

In Tier 4, the fourteen Sinners chosen under this category aren’t weak at all. Still, their abilities usually require more technical play and understanding, which come with practice and time to be perfected. They are viable in battle but aren’t necessarily the best at the hands of new players.

  • OwO
  • Crache
  • Summer
  • Levy
  • Iron
  • Tetra
  • Lynn
  • Roulecca
  • Luvia Ray
  • Oliver
  • Anne
  • Hella
  • Pepper
  • Macchiato

OwO

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Endura

The ‘Loli’, as many dedicated players call her, is exceptionally versatile. An aspiring lion dancer, OwO can do almost everything, starting with her Ultimate, Star of Fortune, which deals one core damage and increases nearby allies’ critical hit rates, leaving a copy of her lion head behind at the original spot.

Her Lion Guardian ability grants her a permanent defense boon, while her other passive, Lion Godspeed, provides a small attack boost to surrounding party members. The main appeal of OwO is her Mania Intensify ability, though, which allows the lion head copy earlier to execute the same abilities that OwO does as well.

This means that the copy will also deal one core damage and buff nearby Sinners’ critical hit rates whenever OwO uses her Ultimate again. Her Exclusive Crimebrand, Mighty Lion Orb, works the same way albeit providing a permanent attack increase to a specified ally instead. Conclusively, you need to have an acute understanding of how the battle is going to use OwO optimally.

Crache

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Umbra

Able to summon shadow entities to do her bidding, Crache’s DPS capabilities are impressive. But, her Ultimate, Shadow Stealth/ Shadow Blade, depends on good placement and timing to be of tremendous value.

Both her passives, Shadow Doubles and Blanket of Shadows, increase her Ultimate’s potency. Nonetheless, to truly make good use of them, Crache needs to consistently be out of fights, hiding behind her Shadow Stealth form, unable to do anything lest the stealth fails.

Crache’s Exclusive Crimebrand improves her attack and allows another shadow being to aid her during a battle, but unless she’s played according to her intended stealth mechanic, you’ll lose tons of damage potential.

Summer

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: S | Role: Reticle

Summer’s technological genius allows her to call upon drones to assist her in battle. As a Reticle, she prefers to stay out of harm’s way, depending on her drones to provide extra firepower for her attacks.

Every time Summer uses her Ultimate, Fantastic Creation, a drone is called to her aid, and her attack speed (and other existing drones’) are boosted for a short while. As such, the longer a battle ensues, the more drones can be summoned to her side. Her passives, Creation Order and Battle Statistics Plugin, play into this, strengthening Summer’s attack damage and critical hit rate respectively.

It’s suffice to say, Summer becomes intimidating only after she has a few drones deployed on the map, complementing her Crimebrand ability, HERO, too. Till then, she might need constant cover and support from her allies.

Levy

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Endura

As an A-rank Endura, Levy is a respectable bruiser to be deployed for missions. He does his part in holding off groups of enemies from reaching more vulnerable allies positioned behind him.

Still, noting how overwhelming the enemy waves and Bosses can become during the latter stages of the game, his lack of team buffs is considered his most glaring weakness. Regardless, if you have the right group composition to synergize with him, then this shouldn’t be a problem.

Due to the strength of his life steal ability made possible by his Mania Intensify and passive, Contract Pitfall, Levy can tank damage as much as Demon or Cinnabar, maybe more. While his magic resistance is up via Fraud Contract, he can inflict heavier Life Loss DOT as well, made scarier by his Exclusive Crimebrand, Fair Trade, which can be bolstered by the presence of other Life Loss-inducing Sinners, such as Sumire.

Iron

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Umbra

The leader of the corrupted SALVA, Iron is a medical practitioner who’s obsessed with Mania, eventually causing her to become a Sinner. Being a cold, meticulous doctor, she revels in the suffering of others, and her passive, Central Induction, which applies stacks of Electrocution, is a testament to that.

Ideally, upon generating Electrocution stacks on an enemy using her next normal attack after twenty seconds, her Ultimate, Precision Scalpel, deals additional shock damage to them, on top of the skill’s initial one. Her Ultimate can also break an enemy’s core, but that’s probably the most that you can get out of her, apart from improving her physical defense penetration via her Crimebrand ability, Straight to SALVA.

Tetra

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Umbra

Tetra’s a dependable combatant when chosen for the right missions, using her Ultimate, Instant Strike, to deal tons of physical damage and break enemies’ cores. Her overall prowess depends heavily on critical hits, though, because her Split-second Blow gives stacks of critical damage bonus, while her Fox’s Shadow stuns the respective target once you successfully crit.

So, Tetra will need support to improve her critical hit rate, probably partnering with Sinners like OwO to do this. Nevertheless, her Exclusive Crimebrand, The Fox and the Righteous Robber, is unbelievably scary; it lets Tetra use her Ultimate twice in a row, decimating enemies inside the target zones before retreating to her original position for safety.

Lynn

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Umbra

Among all Sinners, Lynn might be the most energy-hungry in Path to Nowhere. Her oversized helmet might seem out of place, but it’s the only thing keeping her uncontrollable eye power in check.

Lynn doesn’t show any talented skills apart from her transformed eyes. Hence, all her abilities are tied directly to her Ultimate, Don’t Look at Me!, where she takes off her helmet to release all her pent-up powers in the form of a persistent beam of light. Both of her passive abilities, You’ll Get Hurt! and Get Away!, improve her critical hit chance and critical hit damage respectively.

Although these sound promising, Lynn’s Ultimate needs to be fed constant energy for it to reach its maximum damage cap. This isn’t easy to accomplish, so careful team planning needs to be done before deploying her onto the battlefield.

Roulecca

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Reticle

Roulecca’s a Sinner who loves to go big or go home. Even her name represents Russian roulette, to give a better representation of what she stands for. Her kit revolves around her abilities to bolster her Ultimate, Lucky Roulette.

Lucky Roulette is all about chance; each of her next six bullets fired will have its damage changed, ranging from 50% (reduced damage) up to 225% (damage is more than doubled). Her passive, You’re Dead Meat, gives another small chance for each bullet to improve her critical hit damage and chance, but it’s purely luck-based.

It’s only when you get her Crimebrand ability, Lucky Survivor, that her Ultimate becomes way scarier. Until then, her damage range is unpredictable, making it hard to place her in a comprehensive party.

Luvia Ray

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Arcane

Another elemental controller, Luvia Ray is capable of manipulating electric-based attacks, such as throwing a lightning spear. The unique part about her character is that she is bipolar, meaning she has two different personalities (Luvia or Ray), each having a role to play for her Ultimate, Photoelectric Switch.

Luvia and Ray are two sides of the same coin, each offering different attacks depending on who’s currently in control. Her Ultimate allows you to change them on command, receiving an attack speed buff as well. Although both of her passives give additional boons to her attack damage and speed, it’s her Lightning Strike that makes her shine, guaranteeing critical hits besides softening enemies to take more damage from Photoelectric Switch’s hits.

Her Crimebrand, Thunderstorm, makes her basic attacks deadlier too, but can only be used once per battle. All in all, she’s extremely powerful, justifying her A rank, but requires a high player-skill ceiling to manage her at her best, which is quite difficult.

Oliver

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Arcane

A puppet master, Oliver uses his threads to attack and apply puppet marks to enemies due to his passive, Special Relationship. This mark does DOT to those affected, and his Ultimate, Puppet Game, breaks enemies’ cores while putting another, stronger mark onto them.

If Oliver manages to mark many foes on the map, not only will they suffer from continuous DOT, but his other passive, Love the New and Hate the Old, guarantees a one-time spell attack that occurs once the mark disappears. His Crimebrand skill, Good Child, inflicts a portion of his basic attack damage to marked enemies as well, regardless of where they are on the battlefield.

As you can tell, Oliver is a great Sinner who’s capable of afflicting every foe that he attacks, but you will need to micro-manage him to make sure he gets to mark as many enemies as possible.

Anne

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Catalyst

The head nurse working alongside Iron at SALVA, Anne’s role is clear; she does her best to heal allies during battle. Her kit does wonderful single-target healing, but in return, she lacks group-heal capabilities instead.

Her Ultimate, Nurse’s Blessing, will regularly heal an ally with the least HP nearby, letting them absorb multiple damages while becoming healthy again. Her passive, Medical Logistics, automatically provides a larger heal instead, albeit restricted to once every ten seconds.

With her Exclusive Crimebrand, Value of Life, putting an ally to sleep (unable to act but is invulnerable) for them to recover their HP, Anne’s worth can be quite restrictive at times, especially throughout the end game.

Hella

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Fury

In the game, the second Sinner to join your team is Hella, a loud-mouthed Sinner who tries her best to hide a softer side to herself. Her status as a B-rank offender is warranted; she’s almost unkillable when she’s unlocked her Exclusive Crimebrand, Unhealable Wound, but that’s as far as her primary abilities push her.

Her Ultimate, Street Justice, gives her a nice attack bonus and improves her normal attack for a brief period. Despite being classified as a Fury, though, she might be more suited for the role of an Endura instead, which perfectly aligns with her set of skills.

Pepper

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Fury

With a fearsome lawnmower in hand, Pepper’s basic attacks are decent, with every third attack dealing bonus damage to an enemy. She can be an amazing mob clearer, especially when her Ultimate, The Mower, improves her attack speed for better DPS.

Her passives, Leaf Infection and Crop Management, complement each other, with the latter increasing her attack speed further based on the number of enemies suffering from Life Loss inflicted by the former.

Sadly, this means she can be quite underwhelming against Bosses or elites on tougher missions, and her Crimebrand, Treasure Hunter, only works best when paired with similar Sinners such as Levy.

Macchiato

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Catalyst

Wielding a leash for questionable means, Macchiato’s power is an odd one, but its effects restore the HP of allies during combat. When she has her passive, Pain Normalisation, unlocked, she can use her Ultimate, Motivating Whip, to continuously heal a party member while making them more resistant to enemy hits.

Her other passive, Double the Torture, marks enemies hit by her basic attacks, letting allies attacking them receive a small heal as well. Her Exclusive Crimebrand, Endless Cravings, heals everyone on the team when a marked enemy dies, benefitting the whole party.

Getting to that point is the issue because it takes a lot of effort and resources, something that could be better used for other Sinners.

Tier 5 (Manageable)

Photo: AISNO Games

Finally, the remaining eight Sinners are grouped under Tier 5. These individuals are mainly called upon to provide extra bodies for support but can do little to sway the outcomes of battles unless you’re specifically proficient in using them.

  • Mess
  • Dudu
  • K.K.
  • Demolia
  • Peggy
  • Che
  • Flora
  • Lisa

Mess

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Fury

Mess is another Sinner whose interchangeable basic attacks don’t make her as threatening as many would have hoped for. She fights using a hammer and a sword, and her Ultimate, Vicious Smith, lets you change between them, each having its proficiencies (hammer is quicker, sword hits harder).

Both her passives, Compatibility Weapon and Malice Contagion, provide benefits to each weapon upon changing to them, which are increased attack speed and an attack buff to an ally respectively. Mess’s Crimebrand skill, Furnace of Malice, actually transfers a small attack percentage from everyone on the battlefield to her, giving her an insane cumulative damage boost to make her a devastating fighter.

Overall, though, Mess’s kit doesn’t make her as compelling as others in the game, but if you recruit her early on, you can invest your time to make her worthwhile along the way.

Dudu

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: A | Role: Catalyst

Similar to Hamel, Dudu’s normal attacks are replaced with heals, to which she can never retaliate against enemies hitting her. However, these can only be triggered after you mark the respective ally using her Ultimate, Song of Phoenix, within her range.

This mark lets Dudu focus her attention on keeping that particular Sinner alive throughout the battle (unless changed to another person). Using the Ultimate on them a second time instantly heals them for a significant amount. It’s worth noting that Dudu has her Ultimate fully charged at the start of a battle, meaning you can instantly use it from the get-go.

She becomes immensely useful once her Exclusive Crimebrand, King of Birds, is unlocked, granting a continuous attack buff that stacks to anyone on a specified tile. Apart from that, though, it’s hard to cement her place inside a party lest you know how to play her optimally.

K.K.

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Endura

The first Endura that you recruit via the main storyline, K.K. is extremely useful during the early game. Nonetheless, she doesn’t provide much value to the whole party in general; her abilities are focused entirely on bolstering her defenses.

Only her Exclusive Crimebrand, I’m Here, adds bonus damage to her attacks while she’s in her Ultimate phase, Defensive Stance. As an Endura, she does her job of blocking enemies inside her grid well. Otherwise, there’s not much incentive to have her deployed on missions later in the game.

Demolia

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Endura

Able to block up to three enemies inside her tile due to her Exclusive Crimebrand, My Life, Demolia can be a crucial Sinner to have at the frontline. That being said, it requires her to be healthy at all times, so having someone like Dudu is paramount to keeping her at her best.

Her Ultimate, Rally, gives her a large, instant heal too, and her passive, Unity, ensures additional heals every time another Sinner uses their Ultimate during battle. Unfortunately, that’s all that she brings to the table, meaning she’s easily replaced by others.

Peggy

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Endura

Simply put, Peggy is K.K., except for her Crimebrand power, A Syndicate Farewell, which stops her from attacking upon receiving a tough shield from her Ultimate, Chorus. Instead, she plays music that slows nearby enemies’ attacks while her Ultimate’s shield is up.

Additionally, while K.K. directly beefs up her defenses, Peggy has a regular chance of activating a smaller shield via Epic Lyrics. With all these in tow, though, Peggy doesn’t offer anything else to benefit the whole party, so it can be difficult to opt for her when there are plenty of other Sinners worth considering.

Che

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Fury

Che seems like a cool dude to have on your Sinner line-up, but he provides little to everyone when he’s on the field.

His Ultimate, Happy Hunting, guarantees massive damage and breaks a core against all enemies hit (breaks two cores when Mania Intensify ability is unlocked). Apart from that, he doesn’t do anything else, to which his passives, Jay, the Dagger and John, the Axe, only give stacks of bonus damage and a chance to regain energy respectively.

His Exclusive Crimebrand skill, Reunion, offers extra attack speed for every enemy hit by his Ultimate, making him more lethal. Otherwise, there’s nothing else to be excited about him.

Flora

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Reticle

A firefighter, Flora uses her experience and expertise to good use as a Sinner. Donning her equipment, her Mania abilities are channeled through her water gun, with her Ultimate, Unleash the Waterworks, dishing out immense single-grid damage to enemies.

Her passive abilities are quite mediocre, though, because they only increase her critical hit rate once triggered. On the other hand, she can be outstanding if you invest your resources heavily into leveling her up. Once she unlocks her Exclusive Crimebrand skill, Extinguish the Flames, she becomes a whole new beast of a fighter.

If not, then she’s better off being kept as backup.

Lisa

Photo: AISNO Games

Rank: B | Role: Catalyst

Lisa’s kit is, theoretically, a sound one. When it comes to actual practice, though, it falls way short of expectations. Conceptualized as a Sinner who can CC multiple enemies by slowing and stunning them via her passives, Figure in Picture and Void Butterfly, their effects are somewhat underwhelming, each either being too brief or too weak.

When it comes to her Ultimate, Inspiration Maze, its AOE is a 3-grid straight line, far from being as effective as Kelvin’s or Pacassi’s. Her Crimebrand, Fragile Item, fares much better, but it feels somewhat a little too late when you finally get it unlocked.
