SpongeBob Adventures: In A Jam – Gameplay Overview & Guide

Stripped down to basics, SpongeBob Adventures – In A Jam is a city-builder game such as Dream Town Story. But, the setting makes all the difference.

Doing everything in the whacky, underwater world of Bikini Bottoms, along with SpongeBob, Patrick, and the others, is a lot more fun than a random drag-and-drop builder.

And then there’s the Adventure Map.

So, I’ll start this SpongeBob Adventures guide with a gameplay overview to introduce you to the “what” before getting to the “how.”

SpongeBob Adventures: In A Jam – Gameplay Overview

Players get thrown into an underwater town covered in jellyfish jam, and they need to sort out the mess. From clearing debris to constructing buildings to restoring landmarks, you’ll get everything you can expect in a city-builder game.

Here’s an overview of the THREE main objectives of SpongeBob Adventures In A Jam.

1. Clean Up The Mess

Fog and jam cover every plot of land. Massive debris blocks Coral Avenue and other roads and pathways. So, the first thing on the to-do list is to clean up the mess.

As you clean up the jam, you’ll uncover more and more famous buildings of Bikini Bottoms. After that, you’ll also have to repair those buildings and make them functional.

Then, there are chunks of debris scattered all over the place. These chunks not only take up all the land but also block pathways. So, to construct new buildings and complete the various quests, you’ll have to clean up the debris.

Removing all the debris is difficult. Nearly impossible even. It takes up a lot of Energy, and as you’ll learn soon enough, Energy is scarce.

2. Rebuild Bikini Bottom

Once you start cleaning up the place, you’ll uncover some famous buildings like the Krusty Krab. After that, you’ll also have to make them functional by repairing them.

Every functional building produces useful resources.

As you progress, you’ll free up more land. Use that land to construct more buildings that produce more resources.

Build houses for the Bikini Bottomites, produce various goods, and deliver them to the Bottomites who need them. That’s how you’ll have to rebuild Bikini Bottom from literal scratch.

3. Adventure With SpongeBob

In between the cleaning and renovating, adventure awaits!

Unearthing famous landmarks, rescuing friends, and gathering invaluable items from all over Bikini Bottoms are just a few examples of the quests in SpongeBob Adventures.

These are not optional quests that you can choose to accept or ignore.

To progress along, you must complete these- mainly because you’ll get tons of rewards. The rewards you get are essential to achieving the primary goal- rebuilding Bikini Bottom.

Now for the “how” part.

This section provides a detailed guide to the all-important features and mechanics of SpongeBob Adventures: In A Jam.

You’ll learn how to farm, what to farm, how to build, what to build, how to produce, what to produce, and a lot more in this section. In short, if you want to enjoy SpongeBob Adventures: In A Jam to the fullest, this is the guide you have to follow.

Mechanics & Elements To Master

Since you’re bringing a whole town back to life, you’ll need to do a lot!

So, unsurprisingly, there are tons of elements and mechanics in SpongeBob Adventures In A Jam that players need to take care of. Listed and described in-depth below are the most important ones.

Buildings

There are over FIFTEEN different buildings, including the Krusty Krab, Grocery Mart, and a House of Games. Some of these buildings produce important goods, while others are entertainment spots.

Also, don’t forget the storage buildings. They come in handy once your Bikini Bottom starts flourishing.

Lastly, there are THREE types of Bikini Bottomite houses: Small, Medium, and Large. More houses mean more residents and better business for your factories.

Buildings are an integral part of the rebuild. Whether it is factories that produce various goods or houses for Bikini Bottomites, you need to build, build, and build!

Farm & Factories

With all the quests to complete and orders to fulfill, your farm and factories need to work around the clock.

While they are busy producing in-demand goods, explore Bikini Bottoms, clear up debris, and collect raw materials for your factories.

As for farming, you’ll have to grow more and more crops as you level up. Increase the number of Plant Beds as soon as you get the chance.

Order Board

Keep an eye on the Order Board. Instead of randomly producing stuff, make sure to produce only what’s needed. Otherwise, you’ll fill up your storage with goods that are of no use, and it’s a waste of raw material as well.

If an order is too difficult to fulfill, you can also skip an order. However, you only get 1 Free Skip every 4 hours. So use it wisely.

Energy

Removing debris is an integral part of SpongeBob Adventures In A Jam gameplay. It clears up land to build and farm on, and it’s one of the biggest sources of raw materials you need to produce various goods.

However, you only get limited Energy. And to make matters worse, some of the debris takes up a ridiculous amount of Energy.

So, you need to be careful about how and where you want to spend the Energy.

As for a refill, you get +1 Energy for free after every minute.

But that’s too slow.

So, here are a few more sources to get Energy in SpongeBob Adventures In A Jam:

  1. Sugar Squeeze Machine: Exchange snacks for Energy.
  2. Sugar Squeeze Cart: Exchange snacks for Energy.
  3. Candy Vending Machine: Exchange snacks for Energy
  4. Play Games at the House of Games: Complete tasks to win Energy and more rewards.

Manage these FOUR elements and mechanics, and you’ll progress along smoothly. To help with that, read on to learn some SpongeBob Adventures In A Jam tips and tricks.

SpongeBob Adventures – In A Jam: Tips & Tricks

Although the latest SpongeBob game is a pretty easy one, a few tips and tricks never hurt. These will help you focus on the right stuff so you won’t suffer like I had to.

1. Prioritize Story Map

The Adventure map is fun and exciting. It’s all of our favorite locations from SpongeBob Squarepants, but it takes more than it gives back. You’ll deplete your Energy in no time when playing Adventure mode, and it’ll have next to no effect on Bikini Bottoms.

So remember, your priority should be the Story Map, i.e., restoring Bikini Bottoms. Doing so is also the only way to unlock new buildings, level up, get to play around with Pets, and unlock other famous SpongeBob Squarepants characters.

2. Use Energy Wisely

I can’t even begin to describe how important this is.

As I mentioned in my gameplay overview above, Energy is hard to come by. You only get +1 Energy after one minute.

That’s virtually nothing compared to the Energy needed to clear out the debris. You’ll soon have to turn to the various machines to exchange snacks for Energy.

And that’s pretty annoying if you ask me.

So, it’s better to manage your use of Energy.

Instead of wasting it to clear random debris, store it and use it only when needed.

3. Build Factories & Keep ‘em Running!

Building factories should be priority number one. Keeping them all working at all times should be your priority number two.

You’re the mayor of Bikini Bottoms, and you better keep an eye on everything. Whether it’s Krabby Patties or Jellyfish feed, make sure to check on all your buildings regularly. Don’t let the production stop!

4. Fulfill Orders From The Order Board

You want to fulfill all the orders as soon as possible if you want to level up fast.

Delivering orders is the quickest way to gain XP. The quicker you gain XP, the quicker you level up and unlock new buildings, decorations, and more.

5. Speed Run Adventure Challenges

While on an adventure away from Bikini Bottoms, you’ll get some Adventure Challenges. Completing those Adventure Challenges reaps massive rewards.

You can get Gold Coins, Energy, or Gems. And if you’re lucky, you might get the 3-in-1 jackpot as well.

These challenges mostly include gathering certain types of debris. Since you’ll be doing that already, you can complete these challenges with zero extra effort.

Conclusion

That brings this SpongeBob Adventures: In A Jan gameplay guide to an end.

This adventure and builder from Whaleapp has official backing from Nickelodeon. That’s why we get to see all our favorite characters appear in this game.

I hope this guide helps you progress smoothly so you can have some fun with Gary and Pete the Pet Rock.
