Special skills in Monster Hunter Now are a valuable tool used to defeat large monsters that are in the game.
In this article we will be looking at the different Special Skills and how to use them.

You will need to upgrade your weapon to Grade 2 and, after that overgrade it, for you to be able to activate this special skill.
Resources are required to be able to upgrade your weapons, therefore you will need to defeat monsters as well as collect resources from different areas that are on your map.
Monster Hunter Now is a location-based game, therefore you will need to explore your real-world environment.
Locate the different places where you can collect your resources as well as fight the monsters.

Collect all the resources that you can possibly find. Doing this will enable you to max out your weapons, thus being able to upgrade them to the highest possible level.
You will be able to check your Monster Hunter Now weapon’s special skill by tapping on the equipment icon that is displayed on the bottom left-hand side of your screen.
Tapping on the weapon of your choice will bring up the display screen. Here you will find the grade and level of that weapon displayed.
Below the stats of your weapon is the Special Skills tab. Tap to see the explanation of your special skill.

Monster Hunter Now Special Skills List
Sword and Shield – Perfect Rush Combo: Lunge forward and unleash a flurry of sword strikes and shield bashes. The Perfect Rush Combo is a powerful one-time move that strikes a monster several times.
Lunge into the enemy with a dizzying flurry of strikes and bashes. While the special skill is activated you are also invulnerable.

Note: To unlock the different weapons in Monster Hunter Now, you will be required to progress through the main story quest. In the beginning you will have the Sword and Shield. From Chapter 2, you will be able to start unlocking the rest of the weapons.
Great Sword – True Charged Slash: Charge up your sword and unleash a powerful slash that deals massive damage. The True Charged Slash is also a powerful one-time move that will inflict massive damage on a monster.
This skill draws all of the body’s strength into a slash attack that will deal devastating damage to any monster. With this special skill, you will also be invulnerable while it is activated.

Hammer – Spinning Bludgeon: Spin around with your hammer, dealing massive damage to anything in your path.
The Spinning Bludgeon is a powerful one-time move that hits the monster several times, dealing extensive damage to the monster in Monster Hunter Now.
Utilizing the rotational force of the hammer to deliver a shattering blow, you will be able to defeat the monster quickly. You are once again invulnerable during the special skill’s activation period.

Light Bowgun – Wyvernblast Counter: Fire a high-damage round, dealing explosive damage to the monster. The Wyvernblast Counter is an explosive shot that deals immense damage to any monster.
A single shot unleashes the full destructive might of Wyvernblast ammo. You are also invulnerable during the special skill’s activation period.

Bow – Dragon Piercer: Fire an arrow that pierces your target, dealing considerable damage. The Dragon Piercer is a powerful piercing shot that deals several hits to a monster.
Uses all of the body’s might to release an arrow that can pierce through anything. This is a great weapon to use on a strong, thick-skinned type of monster. You are once more invulnerable during the special skill’s activation period.

The latest Weapons Added with their Special Skills
The December 2023 update of Monster Hunter Now added two new weapons to the game.
The first new weapon is Dual Blades. These allow you to attack the monster in close range with high speed. This weapon also has a feature called Demon Mode.

This feature improves your speed, as well as the amount of damage that you deal to the Monster.
The special skill of the Duel Blades is the Heavenly Blade Dance. This is a one-time move that will vault you up in the air, thereafter, striking the monster with multiple blows across its length, finishing with a devastating blow.
This is an awesome weapon as well as a special skill to use when hunting a long monster.
The Lance is the second of the new weapons introduced in the December 2023 Update.
The Lance has a long striking range which allows you to hunt monsters from a further distance. This weapon is accompanied by a shield. This shield allows you to block as well as reduce the damage from a monster.
The special skill of the Lance is the Dash Attack. This skill rapidly cuts through all of the monster’s defenses.
You will also be invulnerable during the activation of this special skill.

How to use a Special Skill in Monster Hunter Now
Once you have a Special Skill unlocked, equip your weapon and begin a monster hunt.
A gauge will be displayed on the lower half of your screen, above the health bar. As you attack the monster this gauge will fill up.

Once the gauge is full, tap on it to engage the special skill.
During the activation of your special skill, you will be invulnerable.
Special Skills in Monster Hunter Now allows you to defeat the monsters much easier.
These skills are available in solo hunts as well as hunts with other players.
Store it up
It is not necessary to use your Special Skill immediately. The Special Skill in Monster Hunter Now can be stored for future use.

Hunting smaller monsters will allow you to fill up the gauge which you can use on the large monsters at a later stage. This is an easy way to fill the gauge for your Special Skill.

Wrapping it up
In short, go out into the real-time world to find as many resources and monsters as possible. Be wary of your surroundings as you do this. Walking into a pole while on your phone is painful.
Level up your weapons to the maximum. The higher your weapon level is, the easier it will be to defeat the monsters.
Join in hunts with other players. This is a fun location-based game developed by Niantic.Inc. that will get you out and about, as well as being able to interact with other players.
